NHPC Limited, formerly known as the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation, is the largest hydropower development organization in India. Established in 1975 under the Companies Act, NHPC has grown into a pioneer in the power sector with expertise not just in hydroelectricity, but also in solar and wind energy development. Over the years, NHPC has evolved into a multi-dimensional power organization with capabilities spanning from project conceptualization to commissioning and operations.

As of July 1, 2025, NHPC has an impressive installed capacity of 8247.18 MW, out of which 7771.20 MW is from hydropower, 425.98 MW from solar, and 50 MW from wind projects. With about 16.21% share in India’s hydro capacity, NHPC stands tall as one of the most reliable and profitable public sector enterprises. In FY 2023-24, the company recorded a gross turnover of ₹10,024.99 crore and a profit after tax of ₹3,743.94 crore – a clear reflection of its strong financial health.

To support its continued growth and expansion, NHPC is inviting applications from young, dynamic, and achievement-oriented individuals for various Non-Executive posts in 2025. These include positions such as Junior Engineers in multiple disciplines, Supervisor (IT), Senior Accountant, Assistant Rajbhasha Officer, and Hindi Translator. 1. Assistant Rajbhasha Officer (E1 Grade)

Application Fees

  • General / OBC / EWS Candidates: ₹600 + Applicable Taxes (₹708 approx.)

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility varies according to the post. Below is a summary:

Assistant Rajbhasha Officer

  • Master’s Degree in Hindi with English at the degree level OR Master’s in English with Hindi at degree level.
  • Marks Required:
    • General/OBC/EWS: 60%
    • SC/ST/PwBD: 50%
  • Experience: 3 years in translation/teaching/research or working with Govt./PSU, with 2 years in a specific pay scale.

Junior Engineer (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, E&C)

  • Full-time 3-year Diploma in respective discipline from a recognized institute.
  • Marks Required:
    • General/OBC/EWS: 60%
    • SC/ST/PwBD: 50%
  • Note: B.Tech/B.E. without diploma is NOT eligible.

Supervisor (IT)

  • Graduate with DOEACC ‘A’ Level OR Diploma in IT/CS OR BCA/B.Sc (IT/CS).
  • Minimum 60% marks required.

Senior Accountant

  • Must have cleared Inter CA or Inter CMA.

Hindi Translator

  • Master’s Degree in Hindi/English with elective counterpart subject.
  • Experience: 1 year in translation, research, or teaching OR Diploma in translation.

Age Limit

  • Maximum Age: 30 years (as on last date of application).
  • Relaxations:
    • SC/ST: +5 years
    • OBC (NCL): +3 years
    • PwBD: +10 years (General), +13 years (OBC), +15 years (SC/ST)
    • J&K domicile (1980–1989): +5 years
    • Ex-Servicemen: As per Govt. rules

  2. Minimum Qualifying Marks:

  3. Document Verification (DV):
    • Verification of certificates at NHPC Corporate Office, Faridabad.
    • Biometric authentication mandatory.
  4. Final Offer:
    • Issued after successful DV and medical fitness clearance.

Exam Pattern

For Junior Engineers, Supervisor (IT), Senior Accountant

  • Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes)
  • Total Marks: 200 (MCQs)
  • Sections:
    • Part-I: 140 Questions from discipline
    • Part-II: 30 Questions General Awareness
    • Part-III: 30 Questions Reasoning

For Assistant Rajbhasha Officer & Hindi Translator

  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Total Questions: 110
    • Part-I: 40 MCQs + 10 Descriptive Questions (discipline)
    • Part-II: 30 MCQs General Awareness
    • Part-III: 30 MCQs Reasoning

Marking Scheme

  • Correct Answer: +1
  • Wrong Answer: –0.25
  • Unattempted: No marks

Examination Centres

The CBT will be conducted in 19 cities across India:
Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Itanagar, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, and Ranchi.

Candidates can select three preferences, but NHPC reserves the right to change/allocate centres.

Reservation and Relaxation

  • Reservations for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/EWS/PwBD as per Govt. rules.
  • PwBD with 40% or more disability eligible for benefits.
  • OBC (NCL) candidates must have a certificate issued within 6 months of application closing date.
  • Candidates claiming EWS must provide income and asset certificate.

Placement

Selected candidates can be posted at Projects, Power Stations, Offices, Subsidiaries, or Joint Ventures of NHPC anywhere in India or abroad.

Medical Fitness

  • Candidates must meet NHPC’s medical standards.
  • Any ailment, deficiency, or prior medical rejection by another Govt. body must be declared.
