Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India in collaboration with the Coastal Security Scheme Phase-1 has sanctioned several new boats for operational use at Coastal Security Police Stations in Karnataka. To efficiently operate these vessels, the Government has approved the creation of 66 technical posts across multiple categories.

These positions are filled on a contractual basis for a period of five years and are primarily aimed at retired personnel from the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, and BSF (Water Wing), offering a consolidated salary. Recruitment for the vacant posts is open for eligible candidates who meet the necessary qualifications and experience requirements.

2. Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility is classified according to the category of retired personnel – Navy, Coast Guard, BSF (Water Wing), and re-recruitment candidates. Candidates must meet age, educational qualifications, experience, and language requirements as specified below.

A. Retired Navy Officers/Staff

1. Motor Launch Engineer (Police Inspector Grade)

  • Rank: Chief ERA/EAP/NEAR/SWA and above or Chief Mechanic (ER/P/R) and above.
  • Education: Matriculation from a recognized board.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 58 years.
  • Marine Experience: Minimum 5 years.
  • Language: Kannada-speaking, reading & writing.

2. Boat Captain (Police Sub Inspector Grade)

  • Rank: Petty Officer from Seaman branch; preference to RP sailors (Radar Plotter with navigation experience).
  • Education: Matriculation.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 58 years.
  • Marine Experience: Minimum 5 years.

3. Assistant Boat Captain (Assistant Sub Inspector Grade)

  • Rank: Leading Seaman (LS) and above.
  • Education: Matriculation.
  • Marine Experience: Minimum 5 years.

4. Motor Launch Mechanic (Assistant Sub Inspector Grade)

  • Rank: LME/LEMPILEMR or equivalent.
  • Education: Matriculation.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 58 years.
  • Marine Experience: Minimum 5 years.

5. Engine Driver (Head Constable Grade)

  • Rank: ME-L’EMP-VEMR-1 or above.
  • Education: Matriculation.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 58 years.
  • Marine Experience: Minimum 5 years.

6. Khalasi (Police Constable Grade)

  • Rank: Sailor of any branch.
  • Education: Matriculation.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 58 years.
  • Marine Experience: Minimum 5 years.

B. Retired Coast Guard Officers/Staff

1. Motor Launch Engineer (Police Inspector Grade)

  • Rank: Sahayak Engineer (ER/P/R)/SWA and above or Adhikari (ME/P/R) and above.
  • Education: Matriculation.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 58 years.
  • Marine Experience: Minimum 5 years.
  • Language: Kannada-speaking, reading & writing.

2. Boat Captain (Police Sub Inspector Grade)

  • Rank: Navik from Seaman branch, preferably Radar Plotter with navigation experience.
  • Education: Matriculation.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 58 years.
  • Marine Experience: Minimum 3 years.

3. Assistant Boat Captain (Assistant Sub Inspector Grade)

  • Rank: Unarmed Navik (GD) and above.
  • Education: Matriculation.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 58 years.
  • Marine Experience: Minimum 1 year.

4. Motor Launch Mechanic (Assistant Sub Inspector Grade)

  • Rank: As per relevant experience certificate.
  • Education: Matriculation.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 58 years.
  • Marine Experience: Minimum 5 years.

5. Engine Driver (Head Constable Grade)

  • Rank: HC and above; First Class Master Certificate issued by Mercantile Marine Department.
  • Education: Matriculation.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 58 years.
  • Marine Experience: Minimum 5 years.

6. Khalasi (Police Constable Grade)

  • Rank: HC and above; Second Class Engine Driver certificate or ITI certificate in relevant trade.
  • Education: Matriculation.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 58 years.
  • Marine Experience: Minimum 5 years.

C. Retired BSF (Water Wing) Officers/Staff

1. Motor Launch Engineer (Police Inspector Grade)

  • Rank: Unarmed Navik (ME/PR) and above.
  • Education: Matriculation.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 58 years.
  • Marine Experience: Minimum 5 years.

2. Boat Captain (Police Sub Inspector Grade)

  • Rank: Navik (MU/PR) and above.
  • Education: Matriculation.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 58 years.
  • Marine Experience: Minimum 5 years.

3. Assistant Boat Captain (Assistant Sub Inspector Grade)

  • Rank: Navik from any branch and any rank.
  • Education: Matriculation.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 58 years.
  • Marine Experience: Minimum 3 years.

4. Motor Launch Mechanic (Assistant Sub Inspector Grade)

  • Rank: PS1 and above; Licensed First Class Engine Driver or equivalent certification from Mercantile Marine Department.
  • Education: Matriculation.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 58 years.
  • Marine Experience: Minimum 5 years.

5. Engine Driver (Head Constable Grade)

  • Rank: HC and above; First Class Master Certificate issued by Mercantile Marine Department.
  • Education: Matriculation.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 58 years.
  • Marine Experience: Minimum 5 years.

6. Khalasi (Police Constable Grade)

  • Rank: HC and above; Second Class Engine Driver certificate or 3 years diploma in Mechanical, Marine, Electrical, Electronics, or related trade.
  • Education: Matriculation.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 58 years.
  • Marine Experience: Minimum 5 years.

D. Re-Recruitment Candidates of CSP Technical Staff

Candidates who have previously served in Coastal Security Police (CSP) technical staff may apply under the re-recruitment category:

Motor Launch Engineer (Police Inspector Grade)

  • At least 1 year experience as Motor Launch Engineer OR
  • 5 years experience as Boat Captain with Second Class Engine Driver Certificate OR
  • 10 years experience as MLM with Second Class Engine Driver Certificate.
  • Maximum Age: 38 years.

Boat Captain (Police Sub Inspector Grade)

  • At least 1 year experience as Boat Captain OR
  • 5 years experience as Assistant Boat Captain with Class Serang Certificate OR
  • 10 years experience as MLM with Second Class Serang Certificate.
  • Maximum Age: 58 years.

Assistant Boat Captain (Assistant Sub Inspector Grade)

  • At least 1 year experience as Assistant Boat Captain OR
  • 5 years experience as Engine Driver with Second Class Serang Certificate OR
  • 10 years experience as Khalasi with Second Class Serang Certificate.
  • Maximum Age: 58 years.

Motor Launch Mechanic (Assistant Sub Inspector Grade)

  • At least 1 year experience as MLM OR
  • 5 years experience as Engine Driver with Second Class Serang Certificate.
  • Maximum Age: 58 years.

Engine Driver (Head Constable Grade)

  • At least 1 year experience as Engine Driver OR
  • 5 years experience as Khalasi with Second Class Engine Driver Certificate.
  • Maximum Age: 58 years.

Khalasi (Police Constable Grade)

  • At least 1 year experience in Khalasi role.
  • Maximum Age: 58 years.

3. Application Process

Eligible candidates are invited to submit their applications for the Coastal Security Technical Posts through the official application portal. All applications are accepted on a contractual basis for five years with consolidated salary as mentioned above.

The consolidated monthly salary is fixed as per the rank of the post and ranges from ₹23,000 to ₹36,000. No additional pay allowances are mentioned under this contractual engagement
