Vacancy Details

  3. Assistant Engineer (Chemical) – 5 posts

Discipline-wise breakup

  • Civil Engineering: Out of the 40 posts, reservations are available for SC, ST, OBC/MOBC, women, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). The reserved categories also include specific slots for women candidates. Disabilities eligible include blindness and low vision, deaf and hard of hearing, locomotor disability, autism, and others.
  • Mechanical Engineering: 5 posts, including reservation for women and backward categories.

Pay Scale and Salary

The selected candidates will be appointed as Assistant Engineers under the Public Health Engineering Department and will receive the following pay:

  • Pay Scale: Rs. 30,000/- to Rs. 1,10,000/- per month
  • Grade Pay: Rs. 12,700/-
  • Pay Band: Band 4

In addition to the pay, candidates will be eligible for allowances as admissible under Assam State Government rules, including Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other benefits.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality and Domicile

  • The applicant must be an Indian citizen as defined in Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India.
  • The candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam.
  • Proof of residency must be provided through either:
    • A Permanent Resident Certificate of Assam, or
    • Employment Exchange Registration Certificate in Assam.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have B.E./B.Tech in Civil/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering from an institute recognized by the AICTE.
  • Alternatively, candidates who have completed Part A & B of AMIE in Civil/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering and were enrolled on or before 31st May 2013 are also eligible.
  • All candidates must upload mark sheets and certificates of all semesters/years to prove their educational qualifications.

Age Limit

  • Candidates should be between 21 years and 38 years of age as on 1st January 2025.

Age Relaxations:

  • SC/ST candidates: 5 years (up to 43 years).
  • OBC/MOBC candidates: 3 years (up to 41 years).
  • Ex-servicemen: Up to 50 years (further relaxable by 3 years for OBC/MOBC and 5 years for SC/ST).
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years for all categories.

The age will be calculated based on the date of birth mentioned in Class X/XII admit card or certificate. No other documents will be accepted as proof of age.

Reservation for PwBD

Candidates with benchmark disabilities of 40% or more can apply under the PwBD category. The eligible types of disabilities include:

  1. Blindness and low vision
  2. Deaf and hard of hearing
  3. Locomotor disability (including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims, muscular dystrophy)
  4. Autism and related conditions

Certificates from a competent authority must be uploaded to claim the benefit.

Other Conditions for Candidates

  1. Government employees of Assam applying for the post must provide a certificate from their employer and, if seeking pay protection or service continuation, must upload a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
  2. Candidates must also comply with the Small Family Norms by submitting a declaration in Form A.
  3. All documents must be uploaded in the correct format (PDF, size under 4MB, legible at 200 dpi).
  4. Applicants must upload a recent photograph and signature (50 KB – 200 KB each).
  5. Only online applications will be accepted. Offline or emailed applications will be rejected.

Selection Process
