Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a Government of India undertaking and one of the largest public sector engineering and manufacturing companies, has announced recruitment for the engagement of Technician and Graduate Apprentices for the year 2025-26 at its High-Pressure Boiler Plant, Tiruchirappalli. BHEL provides a unique platform for fresh diploma and graduate engineering students to gain hands-on industrial training under the provisions of the Apprentices (Amendment) Act, 1973. This apprenticeship program is aimed at enhancing the skills and practical knowledge of candidates while allowing them to work in a real industrial environment. The training will be conducted for a period of one year, providing aspiring engineers and technicians an opportunity to develop technical expertise, work experience, and professional competence in various engineering disciplines.

Vacancy Details:
BHEL has announced a total of 90 apprenticeship training vacancies for the year 2025-26. The vacancies are distributed among different engineering disciplines as follows:

It is important to note that the number of vacancies is tentative and may change at the discretion of BHEL management depending on operational requirements.
Reservation:
BHEL follows reservation guidelines as per government norms. The distribution of vacancies under different categories is as follows:
- Scheduled Caste (SC): 19%
- Scheduled Tribe (ST): 1%
- Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL): 27%
- Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 10%
- Persons with Disabilities (PWD): 4%
Additionally, there is a reservation for dependents of regular BHEL employees, whether serving, retired, or deceased, as per company rules. Candidates must provide relevant certificates to claim reservation benefits.
Eligibility Criteria:
The eligibility criteria for candidates applying for the apprenticeship training program are as follows:
- Age Limit:
- Minimum age: 18 years
- Maximum age: 27 years for General category candidates as of 1st August 2025
- Age relaxations:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC-NCL: 3 years
- Persons with Disabilities (PWD, 40% or more): 10 years
- Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must have completed a full-time Diploma in relevant engineering disciplines from a government-recognized institute.
- Only diploma holders from the years 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 are eligible.
- Minimum marks required: 60% for General/OBC(NCL)/EWS candidates and 50% for SC/ST candidates.
- Diploma courses completed through distance learning, part-time, correspondence, or sandwich programs are not eligible.
- Previous Training:
- Candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training in any establishment under the Apprentices (Amendment) Act, 1973 are not eligible.
- Candidates with one year or more work experience are also ineligible.
- Physical Standards:
- Selected candidates must meet the minimum physical fitness requirements as per the Apprentices Act, 1992, and its amendments.
Stipend and Facilities:
- Selected apprentices will receive a consolidated stipend of Rs. 11,000 per month for the entire training duration.
- BHEL provides subsidized food and hostel facilities to its apprentices during the training period.
- Apprenticeship duration is one year, starting from the date of joining.
Selection Procedure:
The selection process is purely merit-based, and the merit list will be prepared based on the marks secured in the qualifying diploma examination. In case of a tie in marks, older candidates will be given preference. Only candidates who meet all eligibility criteria will be considered for selection.
Application Process:
Candidates are required to apply online only. The process involves two main steps:
- Registration on Government Portal:
- Candidates must first register on the Ministry of Education NATS (National Apprenticeship Training Scheme) portal to obtain a unique 12/16-digit Student Enrollment Number. This enrollment number is mandatory for applying to BHEL.
- Application on BHEL Portal:
- After obtaining the enrollment number, candidates must fill out the online application form on BHEL’s apprenticeship portal.
- Candidates must upload the following documents:
- Latest colored passport-size photograph
- Scanned signature
- 10th Standard mark sheet
- Consolidated diploma mark sheet
- Caste/Community certificate (if applicable)
- PWD certificate (if applicable)
- Aadhaar card
- NATS enrollment profile screenshot
- Bank passbook front page (Aadhaar-seeded and DBT-enabled)
Incomplete applications or applications not meeting eligibility criteria will be rejected. Candidates must ensure that the information provided is accurate and verifiable.
Additional Instructions:
- All future communication, including the list of shortlisted candidates and document verification, will be conducted via email, SMS alerts, and the BHEL portal.
- Candidates who have passed their diploma from Tamil Nadu government-recognized institutions will be given preference. If there is a shortage of candidates from Tamil Nadu for any discipline, vacancies may be filled with candidates from other states.
- No TA/DA will be provided for certificate verification or joining.
- Completion of apprenticeship does not guarantee employment at BHEL, and apprentices cannot claim job rights based on completing the program.
- Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate.
