East Central Railway Recruitment 2025-26: Apply For Sports Quota Vacancies

The East Central Railway (ECR), Hajipur has officially announced its recruitment drive for the year 2025-26 under the Sports Quota. This notification opens the door for talented and outstanding sportspersons across India to join the Indian Railways and pursue a prestigious career while continuing to excel in their respective sports.

With a total of 56 vacancies distributed across different pay levels and various sporting disciplines, this recruitment drive provides an incredible opportunity for athletes who have represented at national and international platforms. Candidates will be recruited into different divisions and headquarters of the East Central Railway, including Hajipur, Dhanbad, Danapur, DDU, Sonpur, and Samastipur.

Vacancy Details

A total of 56 vacancies have been announced under this recruitment drive. The vacancies are spread across different pay levels and sports disciplines.

Headquarters & Hajipur Vacancies (31 posts)

  • Pay Level 4/5 (Graduation required): 5 posts
  • Pay Level 2/3 (12th/Matric + ITI required): 16 posts
  • Pay Level 1 (10th/ITI required): 10 posts

Divisional Vacancies (25 posts across 5 divisions)

  • Danapur Division: 5 posts
  • Dhanbad Division: 5 posts
  • DDU Division: 5 posts
  • Sonpur Division: 5 posts
  • Samastipur Division: 5 posts

Sports Disciplines Included

The recruitment covers multiple sports, including:

  • Wrestling (Men)
  • Basketball (Men & Women)
  • Kabaddi (Women)
  • Football (Women)
  • Badminton (Men & Women)
  • Hockey (Women)
  • Cricket (Men)
  • Volleyball (Men)

Each game has positions like Goalkeeper, Centre Back, All-rounder, Pivot, Forward, Mid-field, Raider, Batsman, Wicketkeeper, etc.

Salary and Pay Scale

The pay levels vary depending on the post:

  • Pay Level 4/5: ₹25,500 – ₹29,200 (Basic Pay)
  • Pay Level 2/3: ₹19,000 – ₹21,700 (Basic Pay)
  • Pay Level 1: ₹18,000 (Basic Pay)

In addition to the basic salary, selected candidates will receive allowances such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance, and other Railway benefits as per rules.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 25 years
  • Age will be reckoned as on 01 January 2026
  • No relaxation in the age limit will be provided.

Educational Qualification

  1. For Pay Level 4/5:
    • Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university.
  2. For Pay Level 2/3:
    • 12th (+2 stage) or equivalent
    • OR 10th + ITI (approved by NCVT/SCVT)
    • OR 10th + Apprenticeship Certificate
    • Diploma in Engineering will not be accepted as an alternative.
  3. For Pay Level 1:
    • 10th Pass from a recognized board
    • OR ITI
    • OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC)

Sports Qualification

Candidates must meet the following minimum sports norms for recruitment:

  1. For Pay Level 4/5
    • Represented India in Category-A Championship (Olympics)
    • OR at least 3rd position in Category-B events (World Cup, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, etc.)
  2. For Pay Level 2/3
    • Represented India in Category-B events
    • OR 3rd position in Category-C events (Asian Championships, SAF Games, World University Games, etc.)
    • OR 3rd position in Senior/Youth/Junior National Championship
    • OR 3rd position in National Games (under IOA)
    • OR 3rd position in All India Inter University Championships
    • OR 1st position in Federation Cup (Senior Category)
  3. For Pay Level 1
    • Represented India in Category-C events
    • OR 3rd position in Federation Cup (Senior Category)
    • OR represented State in Senior National Championships with minimum 8th position.

Additional rules apply for specific sports such as Badminton, Tennis, Cricket, Volleyball, and Hockey where All India Rankings and other conditions are considered.

Application Fee

The application fee must be paid via Indian Postal Order (IPO).

  • General/OBC Candidates: ₹500 (₹400 will be refunded after appearing in trial)
  • SC/ST/Women/Minorities/Economically Backward Classes: ₹250 (fully refundable after trial)

Note: Economically Backward Classes are those with annual family income less than ₹50,000.

Selection Process

The selection process will consist of the following stages:

  1. Sports Trials – Candidates will be tested for their sports performance and skills.
    • Maximum Marks: 40
    • FIT: 25 or more marks
    • UNFIT: Below 25 marks
  2. Assessment of Sports Achievements – Maximum 50 marks will be given based on achievements at national/international levels.
  3. Educational Qualification – Maximum 10 marks will be given based on educational background.
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks
    • Level 4/5: 70 marks
    • Level 2/3: 65 marks
    • Level 1: 60 marks

Candidates declared FIT in trials will only be considered for the next stage.

Medical Examination

Selected candidates will undergo a medical fitness test conducted by Railway Medical Authorities. Only those fulfilling the prescribed medical standards will be considered for appointment.

How to Apply

  1. Candidates must apply in the prescribed format on A4-size paper, either typed or handwritten in English or Hindi.
  2. The application should be filled in the candidate’s own handwriting.
  3. One passport-size photo must be pasted on the application and signed across. Two additional photos should be attached.
  4. Attach self-attested copies of all certificates (educational, sports achievements, caste, age proof, etc.).
  5. Attach the IPO (Indian Postal Order) of the prescribed application fee.
  6. Serving employees must attach a No Objection Certificate from their employer.
  7. Submit the completed application to the appropriate division or headquarters office before the closing date.
