The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), invites applications from highly motivated and eligible Indian nationals for multiple positions on a contract basis under the Pollution Inventorisation, Assessment, and Surveillance (PIAS) Project for the River Ganga, funded by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) under the Namami Gange Programme. These positions are temporary, co-terminus with the project till 31st March 2026, and may be extended based on project requirements and the performance of the selected candidates.
The PIAS project aims to strengthen the monitoring, assessment, and surveillance of pollution levels in the Ganga River and its tributaries, contributing to effective environmental management, policy-making, and pollution abatement strategies.

1. Senior Project Associate

Educational Qualification & Experience:
- Option 1: Master’s Degree in Science from a recognized university with specialization in Environmental Science, Chemistry, GIS, or Remote Sensing (2 posts).
- Option 2: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology with specialization in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management of Rivers & Lakes, GIS and Remote Sensing (4 posts).
- OR Doctoral Degree in the above-mentioned fields.
- Minimum four years of relevant experience in environmental assessment, pollution monitoring, and GIS applications is desirable.
2. Project Scientist – I

4. Project Scientist – III

- Minimum seven years of relevant experience in monitoring and assessment of surface water bodies, wastewater treatment, industrial pollution abatement, or environmental data management.
Experience Requirements
Preference will be given to candidates with practical experience in:
- Qualitative and quantitative assessment of physico-chemical and biological parameters in surface water bodies
- Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP), Sewage Treatment Plants (STP), Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETP)
- Groundwater quality assessment
- Industrial pollution control in sugar, paper & pulp, tannery, distillery, and textile industries
- Inventorisation of pollution sources and environmental data management
- Working in NABL-accredited laboratories
- Remote Sensing & GIS applications in environmental monitoring
Key Instructions
- Nationality: Only Indian Nationals are eligible.

- Contractual Nature: All positions are temporary and co-terminus with the project. The contract may be extended annually based on performance and project requirement. Selected candidates will not be entitled to regularization in CPCB.
- Age and Qualification: Age and experience will be calculated as of the last date of submission of applications. Experience counted will only be post-acquisition of minimum educational qualifications.
- Selection Process: Selection will be based on personal interview, subject to verification of all relevant documents. CPCB reserves the right to screen candidates based on written test, experience, higher qualifications, or other criteria in case of large number of applicants.
- No Reservations: These posts are open, and no reservation will apply.
- Government Employees: Candidates currently serving in government, semi-government, PSUs, or autonomous organizations must obtain No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their current employer.
- Fraudulent Documents: Submission of fake or de-recognized degrees/diplomas will result in cancellation of candidature or termination of contract.
- Medical Fitness: Candidates must be in good physical and mental health and free from defects affecting performance. A medical certificate from a government doctor will be required at joining.
- Posting Locations: Delhi (Head Office), Lucknow, and Kolkata (Regional Offices). CPCB reserves the right to assign candidates as per project requirements.
- Travel & Accommodation: No TA/DA or accommodation will be provided for attending the interview. Candidates are expected to arrange their own stay in Delhi.
