Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Medical College & Hospital, K.K. Nagar, Chennai has released an official recruitment notification for the engagement of Senior Residents under 3 years’ tenure scheme as per 7th CPC. A total of 61 vacancies are available across multiple departments. The recruitment will be done through a walk-in interview scheduled for 07 October 2025 and 08 October 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for medical postgraduates and young doctors who wish to gain hands-on experience in reputed government medical institutions under the Central Residency Scheme.

The post of Senior Resident is offered with attractive pay under Level 11 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) along with allowances. Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the post of Senior Resident must satisfy the following eligibility conditions as per NMC Teachers Eligibility Qualifications 2025 read with MSR 2023:

Educational Qualification

  • Senior Resident:
    • Must possess a Postgraduate degree (MD/MS/DNB) in the concerned specialty.
    • For non-clinical subjects like Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology: Candidates with M.Sc + Ph.D. qualifications are also eligible.
    • During the transition period, candidates from allied specialties are also allowed in certain departments such as Emergency Medicine and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age limit for broad specialties: 45 years.
  • For non-clinical subjects (Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine): 50 years.
  • Age relaxation applicable as per Government of India norms.

Salary Scale

Selected candidates will be placed in Level 11 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.

  • Basic Pay: ₹67,700/-
  • Gross Emoluments: Around ₹1,57,392/- per month (as per August 2025 figures).
  • Allowances will be revised as per DA updates by the Central Government.
  • Private practice of any kind is strictly prohibited.

Application Fees

The application fee must be paid at the time of document verification through Demand Draft only.

  • SC/ST/PWD/Women/Ex-Servicemen: NIL
  • All Other Categories: ₹500/-

Mode of Payment: Demand Draft drawn in favour of “ESI Fund Account No.1” payable at Chennai.
(No other mode of payment will be accepted)

Selection Process

The recruitment of Senior Residents will be done through the following stages:

  1. Document Verification – Candidates must produce all original documents along with a set of self-attested photocopies between 09:00 AM – 11:00 AM.
  2. Walk-in Interview – Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the selection panel.
  3. Screening Test (If required) – In case the number of applicants exceeds 1:10 ratio per post, a screening test (MCQs in the concerned subject) may be conducted to shortlist candidates for interviews.
  4. Final Selection – Based on performance in the interview only.

Candidates must carry the following documents in original and one self-attested photocopy set:

  3. Identity Proof (Aadhar, PAN, Passport, Voter ID, Driving License)
  4. Address Proof
  5. Date of Birth Certificate (10th Std or Birth Certificate)
  6. Class 10th & 12th Mark Sheets/Certificates
  7. MBBS Degree & Mark Sheets
  8. MD/MS/DNB Degree or Diploma
  9. Internship Completion Certificate
  10. Registration with NMC/State Medical Council
  11. Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD if applicable)
  12. NOC (if employed in Govt. service)
  13. Demand Draft of Application Fee (if applicable)

Tenure and Service Conditions

  • The tenure of Senior Resident is 3 years subject to satisfactory annual performance.
  • No extension beyond 3 years will be granted.
  • Those who have already completed 3 years as Senior Resident in any Govt. institution are not eligible.
  • Selected candidates must sign a contract agreement on a ₹100 stamp paper.
  • A security deposit of ₹30,000/- must be submitted at the time of joining. This will be forfeited if the candidate resigns or services are terminated within one year.
  • Senior Residents are entitled to leave as per CCS Leave Rules 1972.
  • They must perform clinical duties, emergency duties, and other tasks as assigned by the authority.

Reservation Policy

  • Reservation of posts will be as per Government of India guidelines.
  • Candidates claiming OBC must belong to the Non-Creamy Layer and should present certificates in the prescribed format.
  • PWD candidates must have at least 40% disability with valid government-issued certificates.

  • Eligible candidates must directly attend the walk-in interview on the scheduled dates.
  • Candidates should reach the venue on time with the application form, demand draft, and required documents.
  • Document verification will be held between 09:00 AM – 11:00 AM only.
