Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), one of the largest transmission utilities in the world and a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has invited online applications for Apprenticeship Training for a period of one year in its Northern Region Transmission System-II. This recruitment drive is a golden opportunity for fresh graduates, diploma holders, ITI pass-outs, and postgraduates in specific streams to kickstart their professional journey with a reputed government organization.

Stipend / Salary Scale

Selected apprentices will receive the following monthly stipend during the training period:

  • ITI (Electrician): ₹13,500
  • Diploma (Electrical/Civil): ₹15,000
  • Graduate (Electrical/Civil): ₹17,500
  • HR Executive / Executive Law / Rajbhasha Assistant: ₹17,500

Additionally, an extra ₹2,500 per month as HRA will be paid if company accommodation is not provided.
As per the Government of India’s NATS scheme, ₹4,000 (Diploma) and ₹4,500 (Graduate) DBT benefits will also be credited.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years as on the closing date
  • No candidate below 18 years will be eligible.

Educational Qualification

Candidates should have completed full-time regular education from a recognized institute/university:

  1. ITI Apprentice (Electrician): ITI in Electrician Trade (full-time).
  2. Diploma Apprentice (Electrical): Diploma in Electrical Engineering (3 years full-time).
  3. Diploma Apprentice (Civil): Diploma in Civil Engineering (3 years full-time).
  4. Graduate Apprentice (Electrical): B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engg.) in Electrical Engineering (4 years full-time).
  5. Graduate Apprentice (Civil): B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engg.) in Civil Engineering (4 years full-time).
  6. HR Executive: MBA (HR)/PG Diploma in Personnel Management/Industrial Relations (2 years full-time).
  7. Executive Law: Graduate Degree in any discipline with LLB (3 years) or Integrated LLB (5 years).
  8. Rajbhasha Assistant: B.A. in Hindi with good knowledge of English language.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates should have passed their final examination within the last 2 years (07.10.2023 to 06.10.2025).
  • Candidates awaiting final results or holding part-time/distance learning qualifications are not eligible.
  • Those who have already completed or are undergoing apprenticeship training elsewhere, or have work experience of more than 1 year, cannot apply.

Application Fees

  • No application fee is required.
  • Candidates can apply completely free of cost.

Selection Process

  1. Merit-Based Shortlisting:
    • Applications will be screened based on educational qualifications and marks.
    • A merit list will be prepared for each trade and region.
  2. Document Verification:
    • Shortlisted candidates will be called in a ratio of 1:5 for verification of certificates.
    • Verification will include age, qualification, caste certificate (if applicable), Aadhaar, and other documents.
  3. Final Engagement:
    • Candidates will be engaged on the basis of merit order after successful verification, submission of medical fitness, and police verification.

No written test or interview will be conducted.

Apprentices may be posted at multiple training centers across Northern Region-II, including:

  • Jammu, Wagoora, New Wanpoh, Kishenpur, Samba
  • Chandigarh, Hamirpur, Nalagarh, Abdullapur, Kaithal, Panchkula, Fatehabad
  • Moga, Malerkotla, Jalandhar, Patiala, Ludhiana, Amritsar
  • Kargil, Phyang, Drass, Khalste

The exact posting will be decided by PGCIL based on availability and requirement.

General Instructions for Candidates

  • Only Indian citizens are eligible.
  • Apprenticeship does not guarantee future employment with PGCIL.
  • Candidates must maintain discipline, punctuality, and performance during training. Poor performance or misconduct may lead to termination.
  • Apprentices will be entitled to 12 days of casual leave and 15 days of medical leave during the one-year training.

    • Degree/Diploma holders must register on NATS (National Apprenticeship Training Scheme).
    • ITI candidates and other streams (Law, HR, Rajbhasha) must register on NAPS (National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme).
  2. Step 2 – Apply on PGCIL Website
    • Visit the official PGCIL career portal.
    • Click on “Engagement of Apprentices” and proceed to apply online.
    • Fill out the form carefully, upload required documents, and submit.

There is no fee, no written test, and no interview – selection is purely merit-based.
