Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has announced the recruitment of apprentices for its Eastern Region Transmission System-I (ERTS-I). The organization invites energetic, dedicated, and promising candidates to apply for a one-year apprenticeship program across various trades in Bihar and Jharkhand. This initiative is in accordance with the Apprentices Act, 1961, and aims to provide hands-on training and practical exposure to young aspirants in the power transmission sector. The apprenticeship program not only offers valuable industrial experience but also a monthly stipend to the selected candidates, ensuring a rewarding learning environment while contributing to India’s power sector.

Bihar – Total 55 Slots

  • ITI (Electrician): 5
  • Diploma (Electrical): 11

  • Graduate (Civil): 8
  • Graduate (Electronics/Telecom): 2
  • HR Executive: 4
  • CSR Executive: 1

Jharkhand – Total 20 Slots

  • ITI (Electrician): 2
  • Diploma (Electrical): 3
  • Diploma (Civil): 5
  • Graduate (Electrical): 5

  • Graduate (Electronics/Telecom): 1
  • HR Executive: 2

Application Fee

There is no application fee for this apprenticeship recruitment. Candidates can apply online through the official POWERGRID portal once they have obtained their NAPS or NATS registration number.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates interested in applying must fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

  1. Age Limit: Must be 18 years or above at the time of application.
  2. Educational Qualification:
    • ITI Electrician – Full-time ITI course in Electrician Trade.
    • Diploma (Electrical/Civil) – Full-time 3-year diploma course in respective fields.
    • Graduate (Electrical/Civil/Electronics & Telecom Engineering) – Full-time 4-year B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engineering) in respective specialization.
    • HR Executive – MBA (HR) / Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management or equivalent.
    • CSR Executive – 2-year full-time Master in Social Work (MSW) or Rural Development/Management.
    • PR Assistant – Bachelor of Mass Communication (BMC), Bachelor of Journalism & Mass Communication (BJMC) or equivalent.
    • Rajbhasha Assistant – B.A. (Hindi) with proficiency in English language.
  3. Passing Criteria: Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination within the last two years (i.e., between 7th October 2023 and 6th October 2025). Candidates awaiting results are not eligible.
  4. Experience: Candidates with prior apprenticeship training or more than one year of work experience are not eligible.
  5. Mode of Study: Only full-time regular courses from recognized institutes/universities are accepted. Part-time, correspondence, distance learning, or online degrees are not eligible.

Required Documents

  • Apprenticeship Registration/Enrollment Number under NATS/NAPS.
  • Scanned copies of educational certificates and mark sheets.
  • Proof of age (Matriculation certificate, Aadhaar Card, Passport, etc.).
  • SC/ST/OBC(NCL) caste certificate, if applicable.
  • Bank account details with Aadhaar-seeded bank account for DBT.
  • Recent color passport-sized photograph and signature.

Stipend and Salary Structure

The monthly stipend for the apprenticeship program is structured as follows:

  • ITI (Electrician): ₹13,500 per month
  • Diploma (Electrical/Civil): ₹15,000 per month (including DBT of ₹4,000 for diploma courses)
  • Graduate (Electrical/Civil/Electronics & Telecom): ₹17,500 per month (including DBT of ₹4,500 for graduate courses)
  • HR Executive, CSR Executive, PR Assistant, Rajbhasha Assistant: ₹17,500 per month

Additional Benefits

  • An additional ₹2,500 per month HRA is paid if company-provided accommodation is not available.
  • Casual Leave of 12 days and Medical Leave of 15 days for one-year apprenticeship.
  • Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) allowance provided as per the NATS scheme.

Training Locations

Apprentices will be trained at various POWERGRID facilities in Bihar and Jharkhand. Tentative locations include:

Bihar: Ara, Banka, Biharsarif, Gaya, Kishanganj, Lakhisarai, Muzaffarpur, Patna, Purnea, Pusauli, Saharsa, Sitamarhi, Chandauti, RHQ Patna.

Jharkhand: Chaibasa, Chandwa, Daltanganj, Jamshedpur, New Ranchi/Bedo, Ranchi (Namkum/JCP/NOFN).

Training locations are subject to change based on company requirements and availability of facilities.

Application Process

  1. Step 1 – Registration: Candidates must first register themselves on the NATS (for degree/diploma) or NAPS (for ITI and other executive roles) portals and complete their profiles by uploading all necessary documents.
  2. Step 2 – POWERGRID Online Application: After receiving the registration/enrollment number, candidates should apply online on the official POWERGRID website. Only online applications will be accepted.
  3. No written examination, interview, or application fee is required for the apprenticeship program.

Selection Process

  • Applications will be screened based on eligibility criteria and merit in the qualifying examination.
  • Reservation as per SC/ST/OBC(NCL) rules will be applicable.
  • Candidates will be called for document verification in a ratio of 1:5 for available training slots.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be engaged in merit order upon acceptance of the tri-partite apprenticeship contract and completion of medical and police verification.

Apprenticeship Training Details

  • Duration: 12 months (1 year) from the date of joining. No extension is allowed.
  • Attendance and performance will be monitored periodically. Poor performance or unauthorized absence may lead to termination.
  • Apprentices are not permitted to enroll in other regular courses or jobs during the training period.
  • Intellectual property created during apprenticeship belongs to POWERGRID.
  • POWERGRID reserves the right to terminate the apprenticeship for indiscipline, misconduct, absenteeism, poor performance, or violation of company policies.

General Instructions

  • Only Indian citizens are eligible.
  • Candidates should apply for only one state/region/trade. Multiple applications will be rejected.
  • Providing false information or documents may lead to disqualification at any stage.
  • Completion of apprenticeship does not guarantee employment in POWERGRID.
