Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has announced the recruitment of apprentices for its Eastern Region Transmission System-II (ERTS-II). The organization invites applications from enthusiastic, dedicated, and talented candidates to participate in a one-year apprenticeship program. This initiative is conducted under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and aims to provide candidates with practical exposure to the power transmission sector. The apprenticeship program offers an opportunity to gain industry-relevant experience, receive professional mentorship, and earn a stipend during the training period. It is open to candidates in West Bengal and Sikkim across multiple trades including ITI, diploma, engineering graduates, HR, law, CSR, and Rajbhasha roles.

Application Fee

There is no application fee for this apprenticeship recruitment. Candidates can apply online once they obtain the necessary registration/enrollment number from NATS or NAPS portals.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for this apprenticeship program must meet the following requirements:

  1. Age Limit: Must be 18 years or above at the time of application.
  2. Educational Qualification:
    • ITI (Electrician) – Full-time ITI course in Electrician Trade.
    • Diploma (Electrical/Civil) – Full-time 3-year diploma course in respective fields.
    • Graduate (Electrical/Civil/Electronics/Telecom/Computer Science) – Full-time B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engineering) in respective specialization.
    • HR Executive – MBA (HR) or Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management/Industrial Relations or equivalent.
    • Law Executive – Graduate in any discipline with LLB (3-year professional course) or 5-year integrated LLB.
    • CSR Executive – Master in Social Work (MSW) or Rural Development/Management or equivalent.
    • Rajbhasha Assistant – B.A. (Hindi) with proficiency in English language.
  3. Passing Criteria: Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination within the last two years (i.e., between 7th October 2023 and 6th October 2025). Candidates awaiting results are not eligible.
  4. Experience: Candidates who have previously undergone apprenticeship training or have more than 1 year of job experience are not eligible.
  5. Mode of Study: Only full-time regular courses from recognized institutes/universities are accepted. Part-time, correspondence, distance learning, or online degrees are not eligible.

Required Documents

  • Apprenticeship Registration/Enrollment Number under NATS/NAPS.
  • Scanned copies of educational certificates and mark sheets.
  • Proof of age (Matriculation certificate, Aadhaar card, Passport, etc.).
  • SC/ST/OBC(NCL) caste certificate if applicable.
  • Bank account details (Aadhaar-seeded for DBT).
  • Recent color passport-sized photograph and signature.

Stipend and Salary Structure

Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend based on their trade and qualification:

  • ITI (Electrician): ₹13,500 per month
  • Diploma (Electrical/Civil): ₹15,000 per month (including DBT of ₹4,000)
  • Graduate (Electrical/Civil/Electronics/Telecom/Computer Science): ₹17,500 per month (including DBT of ₹4,500)
  • HR Executive, CSR Executive, Law Executive, Rajbhasha Assistant: ₹17,500 per month

Additional Benefits

  • If company-provided accommodation is not available, an additional HRA of ₹2,500 per month is paid.
  • Casual Leave of 12 days and Medical Leave of 15 days for one-year apprenticeship.
  • Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) amount provided as per NATS scheme for eligible diploma and graduate apprentices.

Training Locations

Training will be conducted at various POWERGRID facilities in West Bengal and Sikkim:

West Bengal: Alipurduar, Behrampore, Binaguri, Birpara, Dalkhola, Durgapur, Maithon, Malda, Rajarhat, RHQ-Kolkata, Siliguri, Subhashgram, Kalyani, Garbeta

Sikkim: Gangtok, Rangpo, New-Melli

Training locations may change depending on availability and company requirements.

Application Process

  1. Step 1 – Registration: Candidates must first register on NATS (for degree/diploma) or NAPS (for ITI and executive roles) portals and complete their profiles with all necessary documents.
  2. Step 2 – POWERGRID Online Application: After obtaining the registration/enrollment number, candidates must apply online on the official POWERGRID portal. Only online applications are accepted.
  3. No written examination, interview, or application fee is required for this apprenticeship program.

Selection Process

  • Applications will be screened on the basis of merit and eligibility criteria.
  • Reservation for SC/ST/OBC(NCL) candidates will be as per the Apprentices Act, 1961.
  • Candidates will be called for document verification in a 1:5 ratio for available slots.
  • Engagement will be on merit order after acceptance of the tri-partite apprenticeship contract and completion of medical and police verification.

Apprenticeship Training Details

  • Duration: One year (12 months). No extension allowed.
  • Attendance & Performance: Monitored periodically. Poor performance or unauthorized absence may lead to termination.
  • Training Location: Determined based on facility availability; may be changed for rotation or requirement.
  • Accommodation: Shared accommodation may be provided. HRA is paid if accommodation is not available.
  • Leaves: 12 days casual leave and 15 days medical leave for the one-year duration.
  • Confidentiality & Conduct: Apprentices must maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and adhere to company code of conduct.
  • Intellectual Property: Any inventions or works created during apprenticeship belong to POWERGRID.
  • Termination: POWERGRID reserves the right to terminate apprenticeships for indiscipline, absenteeism, misconduct, or violation of policies.

General Instructions

  • Only Indian citizens are eligible.
  • Candidates may apply for only one trade/region. Multiple applications will be rejected.
  • Providing false information or documents will lead to disqualification.
  • Completion of apprenticeship does not guarantee employment at POWERGRID.
