The Government of Odisha, through its Higher Education Department, has launched the Vyasakabi Fakirmohan Bhasabruti Scholarship 2025–26 with the objective of promoting and encouraging the study of the Odia language at higher levels of education. Named after the great Odia writer and poet Vyasakabi Fakirmohan Senapati, the scheme reflects the government’s commitment to preserving and expanding Odia literature and culture by supporting meritorious students.

This scholarship is available for undergraduate and postgraduate students pursuing Odia as their main subject in recognized institutions across Odisha and other states. Eligible students will receive a one-time financial grant of up to ₹30,000, enabling them to pursue higher education without financial constraints.

Scholarship Amount

The scholarship offers a one-time financial grant as follows:

  • Undergraduate Students (UG – Odia Honours): ₹20,000 (one-time)
  • Postgraduate Students (PG – Odia MA): ₹30,000 (one-time)

This financial support can be used for tuition fees, purchase of study materials, research purposes, or other academic needs.

Eligibility Criteria

To avail of the scholarship, applicants must meet the following conditions:

General Eligibility

  • Must be a domicile of Odisha.
  • Belong to any of the following categories: General, SC, ST, OBC, SEBC, or EBC.
  • Must have a valid Aadhaar-linked bank account in their name.

For Undergraduate Applicants

  • Must be enrolled in a UG (Arts) degree program with Odia Honours in a recognized degree/autonomous college or university in Odisha or other states.
  • Must have secured at least 60% marks in Class 12 examinations conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha.

For Postgraduate Applicants

  • Must be enrolled in MA (Odia) in a state university, degree college, or autonomous college in Odisha or other states.
  • Must have obtained at least 60% marks in their UG program.

Exclusion

  • Students pursuing courses via distance learning or correspondence are not eligible.

Reservation Policy

  • The scholarship is open to all categories, ensuring equal opportunity for General, SC, ST, OBC, SEBC, and EBC students.
  • Reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/SEBC/EBC) will be given due weightage as per government norms.
  • Special focus on merit and inclusivity, ensuring deserving students are not excluded on the basis of caste or community.

Distribution of Scholarships

  • The scholarship will be disbursed as a one-time payment directly into the student’s Aadhaar-linked bank account.
  • UG students will receive ₹20,000 and PG students will receive ₹30,000.
  • The Higher Education Department will ensure transparent transfer via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) mode.
  • Students already receiving other scholarships may still apply, but the benefit of this scheme can be availed only once.

Documents Required

Applicants must submit the following documents during the application process:

  1. Domicile Certificate issued by competent authority (Tahasildar/Additional Tahasildar).
  2. Academic Mark Sheets/Transcripts of last qualifying examination (Class 12 for UG, UG degree for PG).
  3. Aadhaar-linked Bank Account Details of the applicant.
  4. College/Institute ID Card.
    • If not available, a Letter of Undertaking from the institution with details such as course, session, name, and roll number must be provided.
  5. Additional proof of enrolment in UG (Odia Honours) or PG (Odia MA).
  6. Passport-size Photograph.

Applicants must follow the below steps carefully to apply for the scholarship:

Step 1: Registration

  • Visit the official Odisha scholarship portal.
  • Click on “Register” and fill in required details such as name, email, and mobile number.
  • Verify Aadhaar details to complete registration.

Step 2: Login

  • Use registered credentials (mobile/email/Gmail) to log in.
  • Navigate to the Vyasakabi Fakirmohan Bhasabruti Scholarship tab.

Step 3: Application Form

  • Fill in personal details, educational details, and bank account information.
  • Upload recent passport-size photograph.

Step 4: Document Upload

  • Upload scanned copies of required documents such as domicile certificate, mark sheets, ID card, Aadhaar, and bank details.
