NIOT Apprenticeship 2025 – Walk-In Interview for Technician & Graduate Apprentices, Chennai

The National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, invites applications for Apprenticeship Training 2025. This program provides an opportunity for fresh Diploma and Degree holders to gain practical experience in ocean technology, engineering, and allied disciplines.

Selected candidates will undergo hands-on training at NIOT headquarters in Chennai or field units in Chittedu and Pamanji, Andhra Pradesh, and will be awarded a National Apprenticeship Certificate from the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT) upon successful completion.

This program is not a direct employment opportunity, but a stepping stone to gain professional skills and experience in advanced ocean technology research and development.

Application Fees

  • No application fee is required for this walk-in apprenticeship.
  • Candidates only need to register on the Apprenticeship Portal and appear with original and self-attested copies of certificates.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Technician (Diploma) Apprentices:

  • Full-time Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical & Electronics / Electronics & Communication Engineering from a recognized Board or State Council.

Graduate (Degree) Apprentices:

  • Full-time Graduate degree in Mechanical / Civil / Electronics & Communication Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Computer Science, BCA, B.Com, or Library & Information Science from a recognized university or institution.

Additional Requirements:

  • Candidates must have passed in 2023, 2024, or 2025.
  • Candidates should be registered on the Apprenticeship Portal before the interview.
  • Candidates should not have previously undergone apprenticeship elsewhere.
  • No work experience exceeding one year is allowed.

How to Apply

Step 1: Register on Apprenticeship Portal

  1. Click Enroll
  2. Complete the application form to generate a unique enrolment number
  3. Wait for enrolment verification and approval (usually 1 day)

Step 2: Apply to NIOT

  1. Login to the portal
  2. Click Establishment Request → Find Establishment
  3. Upload your resume
  4. Search for “National Institute of Ocean Technology”
  5. Click Apply

Note: The enrolment number must be mentioned in your application at the walk-in interview.

Step 3: Walk-In Interview

  • Bring all original documents and self-attested photocopies, including:
    • Educational certificates and mark sheets
    • Date of birth proof (SSLC/HSC certificate)
    • Caste certificate (if applicable)
    • Aadhaar card
    • Passport-size photograph
  • Report at NIOT Chennai campus at 08:30 AM on 27th October 2025.

Selection Process

  1. Document Verification – Certificates and qualifications checked at the time of interview.
  2. Interview / Screening – Based on academic performance, qualifications, and relevance to the discipline.
  3. Provisional Selection – Candidates will be offered apprenticeship subject to verification of eligibility.
  4. Certification – National Apprenticeship Certificate awarded by BOAT after successful completion.

Note: The Director, NIOT Chennai, has the final authority on selection, eligibility, and any decision related to vacancies.

Stipend & Benefits

  • Technician/Diploma Apprentices: Rs. 12,000/- per month (Rs. 4,000/- DBT)
  • Graduate/Degree Apprentices: Rs. 13,000/- per month (Rs. 4,500/- DBT)
  • Hands-on training in NIOT laboratories and field units
  • Exposure to advanced ocean technology research projects
  • Nationally recognized certificate from BOAT

  1. Ensure valid Aadhaar number.
  2. Bring original certificates and self-attested copies.
  3. Provisional candidature is subject to verification of documents.
  4. Completion of apprenticeship does not guarantee employment.
