RRC NCR Sports Quota Recruitment 2025 – Online Application Open for 46 Government Job Vacancies for Talented Athletes

The North Central Railway (NCR), one of the key zones of Indian Railways, has announced recruitment for Indian sports persons under the Sports Quota for the year 2025-26. This recruitment drive aims to provide opportunities for outstanding sportspersons to join the railway services while representing the country in various national and international sporting events. Candidates from diverse sporting disciplines such as Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Cricket, Football, Hockey, Judo, Kabaddi, Lawn Tennis, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Weightlifting, Wrestling, and other recognized sports can apply. The recruitment process will be merit-based and include evaluation of prior sports achievements along with trial assessments conducted by a designated committee.

The total number of vacancies available under this Sports Quota recruitment is 46 posts distributed across different pay levels: Level 1 (25 posts), Level 2/3 (16 posts), and Level 4/5 (5 posts). The recruitment provides an excellent opportunity for talented athletes to secure a government job while continuing their sports career.

Application Fees

  • General Candidates: Rs. 500/- (Refundable Rs. 400/- after trial)
  • SC/ST/Women/Minorities/Economically Backward Classes: Rs. 250/- (Refundable after trial)

The application fee must be paid online via net banking, credit/debit card, or UPI as instructed on the official portal. Candidates claiming fee exemptions must upload the required supporting certificates.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

  • Minimum: 18 years
  • Maximum: 25 years
  • Date of Birth Eligibility: Candidates born between 2nd January 2001 and 1st January 2008
  • No age relaxation is allowed for this recruitment.

Educational Qualification

  • Level 4/5: Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university
  • Level 2/3: Passed 12th standard or equivalent, or Matric plus ITI/Apprenticeship/Diploma
  • Level 1: Passed 10th standard or ITI/National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC)
  • Educational qualifications must be from recognized institutions.

Sports Achievements

Eligibility is based on sports achievements from 1st April 2023 onwards in recognized championships. Candidates must be active sportspersons. Specific sports norms include:

  • Level 4/5: Represented India in Olympics, World Cup, World Championships, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympics, Davis Cup, Thomas/Uber Cup, Champions Trophy, or equivalent top-level competitions.
  • Level 2/3: Represented India in World Cup, World Championships, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympics, Champions Trophy, or achieved at least 3rd position in National or recognized Inter-University competitions.
  • Level 1: Represented India or state in national championships or achieved top positions in recognized tournaments, including Federation Cup Championships or All India Inter-University competitions.

Additional norms exist for Athletics, Badminton, Table Tennis, Tennis, Cricket, Hockey, Kabaddi, and Boxing. Candidates must meet the required international, national, or state-level norms relevant to their sport.

Salary & Pay Scale

  • Level 1: Pay Band 5200-20200 + Grade Pay Rs. 1800/-
  • Level 2/3: Pay Band 5200-20200 + Grade Pay Rs. 1900/2000/-
  • Level 4/5: Pay Band 5200-20200 + Grade Pay Rs. 2400/2800/-

The final pay will be as per the 7th Pay Commission norms and government rules applicable to railway employees.

Selection Procedure

  • Selection is merit-based and consists of evaluation of sports achievements, trials, and assessment of game skills.
  • Marks Distribution:
    • Sports Achievement: 50 Marks
    • Game Skill, Physical Fitness & Coach Observations: 40 Marks
    • Educational Qualification: 10 Marks
  • Candidates scoring below the qualifying marks in trials will not proceed further. Minimum qualifying marks:
    • Level 4/5: 70 Marks
    • Level 2/3: 65 Marks
    • Level 1: 60 Marks
  • The final merit list will prioritize candidates based on total marks obtained, with preference given to younger candidates in case of a tie.
  • Selected candidates will undergo a medical examination to ensure fitness for the role.

Conditions for Recruitment

  • Candidates must ensure eligibility regarding age, education, and sports achievements before applying.
  • Name and father’s name in the application must match official documents.
  • Candidates may be posted anywhere in North Central Railway as per administrative requirements.
  • Recruits will serve a probation period of 2 years and must execute a 5-year service bond.
  • Typewriting skills must be acquired within 4 years for certain clerk posts.
  • Any form of malpractice, falsified documents, or misrepresentation may lead to disqualification.
