The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT), Bhubaneswar, has launched a major recruitment drive for highly qualified and research-oriented professionals. Located in Bhubaneswar, CSIR-IMMT is one of India’s premier institutions dedicated to minerals, materials research and technology development. The recruitment targets dynamic individuals capable of contributing to strategic R&D programs and technology management.

Important Dates

Candidates should carefully follow the application schedule to avoid disqualification:

  • Commencement of online application: 6 October 2025 (from 10:00 AM)
  • Closing date for online submission: 6 November 2025 (until 5:00 PM)

No application will be accepted after the closing date, and no corrections will be permitted post submission.

Application Fee

  • General, EWS and OBC candidates: ₹500
  • Exempted categories: SC, ST, PwBD, Women, Ex-Servicemen and candidates applying from abroad

The fee must be paid online. Applications submitted without the fee, where applicable, will not be accepted.

A total of 30 scientific positions are available across three levels:

Three Scientist posts are reserved horizontally for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities under categories such as Hearing Impairment, Blindness and Multiple Disabilities.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit (Maximum)

  • Scientist: 32 years
  • Senior Scientist: 37 years
  • Principal Scientist: 45 years

Relaxation in age will be applicable as per Government of India rules for reserved categories.

Educational Qualifications

Scientist (Entry Level)

  • M.E./M.Tech. in relevant disciplines such as Mineral Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and allied fields
    OR
  • B.E./B.Tech. with an Advanced Diploma from AcSIR (with distinction)
    OR
  • Ph.D. (Engineering) submitted in a relevant area

Desirable qualifications include a first class in Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, awarded Ph.D., or GATE qualification.

Senior Scientist

  • Ph.D. (Science) with at least two years of relevant research or industrial experience
    OR
  • M.E./M.Tech. with a minimum of three years’ experience in fields such as R&D planning, technology development, metallurgical engineering or material science

Principal Scientist

  • Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science & Engineering or Materials Engineering with at least three years of relevant professional experience

Desirable background covers experience in extractive metallurgy, mechanical metallurgy and applied technology research.

Pay Scale and Gross Emoluments

The salary structure is as per the 7th Central Pay Commission:

Emoluments include Basic Pay, Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and Transport Allowance applicable to Bhubaneswar.

Selection Process

The recruitment procedure includes:

  1. Screening of Applications
    A screening committee will shortlist eligible candidates using parameters such as:
    • Higher qualification
    • Research experience
    • Publications in peer-reviewed or SCI journals
    • Patents, project involvement or scientific achievements
    • Alignment with research domain and specialization
  2. Interview
    Candidates shortlisted after screening will be called for a personal interview.

Preference may be given to those with notable contributions in product development, translational research, technology advancement and applied sciences.

How to Apply

Candidates must complete the application through an online process in three stages. The steps are as follows:

  1. Registration
    Create an account using a valid email address and mobile number.
  2. Fee Payment
    Pay the prescribed fee (for applicable categories) through available online modes such as UPI, net banking or SB Collect.
  3. Online Application Submission
    Fill in personal, academic and experience details and upload scanned documents including:
    • Photograph and signature
    • Date of birth proof (10th/Matriculation certificate)
    • Mark sheets and certificates from 10th standard onwards
    • Category certificate (if applicable)
    • No Objection Certificate, if currently employed in Government/PSU
    • Synopsis of Ph.D. or M.Tech dissertation
    • List of research publications, if any
    • Experience certificates
    • Payment receipt (if fee is applicable)

After submission, take a printout for reference as no corrections will be entertained.
