Selection Process

The selection will be carried out in two main stages:

Stage 1: Preliminary Examination

  • Type: Objective (Multiple Choice Questions)
  • Subjects:
    1. General Studies
    2. General Science and Mathematics
    3. Mental Ability (Reasoning and Comprehension)
  • Total Questions: 150
  • Total Marks: 600 (4 marks per question)
  • Negative Marking: 1 mark deducted for every wrong answer
  • Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes
  • Medium: Hindi and English
  • Special Feature: Open Book Exam — candidates can carry three textbooks (one for General Studies, one for Mathematics, and one for General Science) from recognized boards such as NCERT, BSEB, or ICSE. Photocopies, guides, or handwritten notes are strictly prohibited.

Stage 2: Main Examination

  • The syllabus, structure, and marking scheme for the Main Examination will be announced later.
  • Approximately five times the number of category-wise vacancies will be shortlisted based on the Preliminary Exam results.
