Application Fees

  • General / OBC(NCL) / EWS: Rs. 500/- + 18% GST = Rs. 590/-
  • SC / ST / PwBD / Ex-servicemen: Exempted from application fee.

Payment Mode: The fee must be paid online through the SBI Collect portal. The payment receipt must be saved and its reference number entered in the online application form. The application fee is non-refundable.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Nationality

Candidate must be a citizen of India.

2. Age Limit (as on 01.10.2025)

  • Minimum Age: 18 Years
  • Maximum Age for UR/EWS: 28 Years

Age Relaxation:

  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • PwBD (with 40% disability): 10 years
  • PwBD belonging to OBC/SC/ST: Age relaxation is cumulative (e.g., PwBD + OBC = 13 years).

Proof of age: Only the Matriculation/SSLC certificate or a birth certificate from a competent authority is acceptable.

3. Educational Qualification & Experience

A. For Engineering Assistant Trainee (EAT):

  • Qualification: 3 years Diploma in Engineering in the relevant discipline (Electronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil as per unit requirements) from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum Marks:
    • General / OBC(NCL) / EWS: 60% aggregate marks.
    • SC / PwBD: 50% aggregate marks.
  • Experience: No experience required.

B. For Technician ‘C’:

  • Qualification: SSLC + ITI in the relevant trade (Electronic Mechanic, Fitter) + One year Apprenticeship Training with National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) OR SSLC + 3 years National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) course in the relevant trade.
  • Minimum Marks:
    • General / OBC(NCL) / EWS: 60% aggregate marks.
    • SC / PwBD: 50% aggregate marks.
  • Experience: No experience required.

4. Mandatory Employment Exchange Registration

  • For Chennai Unit: Registration in any Employment Exchange in Tamil Nadu is mandatory. The registration must be valid and active as on 04.11.2025.
  • For Panchkula Unit: Registration in the Haryana Employment Exchange is mandatory. The registration must be valid and active as on 05.11.2025.

Salary and Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be offered an attractive salary package along with numerous perks and benefits typical of a leading Maharatna PSU.

1. Engineering Assistant Trainee (EAT):

  • During Training (6 months): A consolidated stipend of Rs. 24,000/- per month.
  • After Training: On successful completion of training and passing the gradation test, they will be placed in the regular pay scale of Rs. 24,500 – 3% – Rs. 90,000/- (Grade: WG-VII / CP-VI).

2. Technician ‘C’:

  • Pay Scale: Rs. 21,500 – 3% – Rs. 82,000/- (Grade: WG-IV / CP-V).

In addition to the basic pay, employees are entitled to:

Selection Process

The selection process is designed to be transparent and merit-based.

1. Computer Based Test (CBT):

Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for an online test of 150 marks, which will be conducted in Chennai for the Chennai Unit and in Panchkula (or another suitable venue) for the Panchkula Unit.

  • Part I – General Aptitude (50 Marks): Tests General Mental Ability, Logical Reasoning, Analytical Abilities, Comprehension, Basic Numeracy, Data Interpretation, and General Knowledge.
  • Part II – Technical Aptitude (100 Marks): Tests technical/professional knowledge in the respective discipline/trade.

2. Minimum Qualifying Marks:

  • General / OBC / EWS: 35% in each part (Part I & Part II).
  • SC / PwBD: 30% in each part (Part I & Part II).

3. Final Selection:

The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the Computer Based Test. Provisionally shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification. Appointment is subject to being found medically fit.

Tie-Breaker Criteria: In case of a tie in marks, the candidate with higher marks in the Technical section, then General Awareness, then higher percentage in the qualifying exam, and finally, the older candidate will be given preference.

Important Instructions:

  • Candidates must apply separately for each post and each unit if eligible.
  • Do not send any hard copies of the application to BEL.
  • Ensure all details are correct before final submission, as no changes will be allowed afterward.
  • SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-servicemen candidates called for the CBT will be reimbursed travel allowance (Sleeper Class train fare) upon production of required documents.
