This recruitment drive, issued under the Apprentices Act, 1961, invites online applications from eligible ITI and Vocational Higher Secondary (VHSE) certificate holders for one-year apprenticeship training at Cochin Shipyard, Kochi.

Online registration for the apprenticeship program has begun on 29th October 2025 and will continue until 15th November 2025.

These positions are open to candidates who have completed Vocational Higher Secondary Education (VHSE) in the relevant disciplines.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

  • For ITI Trade Apprentices:
    • Must have passed 10th Standard (SSLC/Matric).
    • Must have completed ITI (National Trade Certificate) in any of the notified trades from a recognized institute approved by NCVT or SCVT.
  • For Technician (Vocational) Apprentices:
    • Must have completed Vocational Higher Secondary Education (VHSE) in the respective discipline listed above.

2. Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years (as of 15 November 2025)
  • Maximum Age: As per government rules (relaxation applicable to SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates as per norms).

3. Domicile Requirement

  • Candidates must be domiciles of Kerala. Applications from candidates outside Kerala will not be considered.

4. Physical Fitness

  • Candidates must meet the physical standards prescribed under Clause 4 of the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 and subsequent amendments.

Duration of Apprenticeship

  • The training will last for one year from the date of joining.
  • Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training elsewhere under the Apprentices Act, 1961 will not be eligible to apply again.

Selection Procedure

Selection will be purely merit-based as per the following process:

  1. Shortlisting:
    Candidates will be shortlisted based on percentage of marks obtained in their qualifying examination (ITI/VHSE).
  2. Tie-breaking:
    In case multiple candidates have the same marks, the one older in age will be given preference.
  3. Certificate Verification:
    Shortlisted candidates will be notified via registered email and must appear for verification of:
    • Printed online application form
    • Original certificates for age, qualification, caste, disability (if applicable)
    • Self-attested copies of the same
  4. Final Selection:
    Candidates found eligible after verification will be provisionally selected based on merit and medical fitness.
  5. Contract Execution:
    Selected candidates must register and execute an apprenticeship contract through the official Apprenticeship Portal.

Important Points

  • No Application Fee: There is no fee for submitting the online application.
  • No Travel Allowance: Candidates must bear their own travel expenses for attending verification.
  • No Boarding/Lodging: CSL will not provide accommodation during training.
  • Merit List Validity: Rank lists will remain valid for 18 months from the date of publication.
