Eligibility Criteria for Dumka Home Guards
Residency Requirements:
- Rural Home Guards: Must be permanent residents of the applying block. A self-attested residential certificate from a competent authority is mandatory.
- Urban Home Guards: Must be permanent residents of Dumka urban area, with a self-attested residential certificate.
Age Limit:
- Minimum: 19 years
- Maximum: 40 years (as of 01 January 2025)
- Candidates must provide self-attested proof of birth date.
Educational Qualification:
- Rural Home Guards: Minimum 7th pass.
- Urban Home Guards: Minimum 10th pass (Matriculation).
- Self-attested educational certificates must be uploaded.
Physical Standards:
- Height: Male – 162 cm (Gen/OBC/BC), 157 cm (SC/ST); Female – 148 cm (all categories)
- Chest (Male only): 79 cm (Gen/OBC/BC), 76 cm (SC/ST)
Technical Skills (Urban Technical Candidates):
- Candidates should possess recognized skills or experience in medicine, nursing, law, teaching, engineering, computer operations, or trades like electrician, plumber, carpenter, driver (with valid license), cook, etc.
- Self-attested certificates for technical expertise are required.
Pay Salary
- Payment Structure: Home Guards in Jharkhand are compensated on a daily wage basis, not a fixed monthly salary with regular pay scales like permanent government employees. The amount depends entirely on the actual number of days they are called for duty.
- Daily Wage: The revised daily duty wage is ₹1,088. Previously, it was around ₹500 per day.
- Monthly Earning Potential:
- For 26 duty days: approx. ₹28,288
- For 30 duty days: approx. ₹32,640
- In-Hand Salary: The amount is mostly in-hand, with minimal to no deductions or taxes.
- Allowances and Benefits: In addition to the daily pay, Home Guards may receive perks such as a uniform allowance and special duty allowances, depending on the nature of their assignment.
Selection Process – Jharkhand Home Guard
The recruitment follows the Jharkhand Home Guard Rules, 2014, and involves multiple stages:
1. Physical Fitness Test
- Rural & Non-Technical Urban Candidates:
- 1-Mile Run: Men – ≤5 min (20 points), 5–6 min (10 points), >6 min – disqualified; Women – ≤8 min (20 points), 8–10 min (10 points), >10 min – disqualified.
- High Jump & Long Jump: Scoring based on performance.
- Shot Put: Minimum required distance.
- Technical Urban Candidates:
- 1-Mile Run: Men – ≤6 min, Women – ≤8 min.
- Additional physical tests as per technical category.
2. Hindi Writing Test
- Level: 7th class for Rural, 10th class for Urban candidates.
- Maximum Marks: 100 | Qualifying Marks: 30
3. Technical Skill Test (Urban Technical Candidates only)
- For candidates who clear physical and Hindi tests.
- Maximum Marks: 100 | Qualifying Marks: 30
4. Merit & Bonus Points
- Merit considers all test performances.
- Extra points for sports achievements:
- National: 1st–6, 2nd–4, 3rd–2
- State: 1st–3, 2nd–2, 3rd–1
- Urban government employees get 10% reserved vacancies and bonus points based on education: Postgraduate – 10, Graduate – 8, Intermediate – 6, Matric – 4
5. Final Selection
- Selected candidates undergo medical examination and police verification.
- Successful candidates receive Home Guard training and enrollment certificates.
