The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar — an Institute of National Importance established under the AIIMS (Amendment) Act, 2012 — has released an official notification inviting online applications from qualified Indian citizens for the recruitment of Senior Residents (Non-Academic) on a tenure basis of three years.

Department-Wise Vacancy Distribution

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates must possess a DNB/MD/MS/DM/MCh (as applicable) in the relevant specialty from a recognized institution.
  • The qualifying degree must be completed on or before 30 November 2025.
  • Candidates who have appeared for their final examination/viva voce and are awaiting results may apply provisionally. However, their results must be declared by 30 November 2025, failing which their candidature will be cancelled.
  • Candidates who have already completed three years of Senior Residency under the Central Residency Scheme are not eligible.

Medical Registration:

  • Valid registration with the Medical Council of India (MCI)/State Medical Council is mandatory before joining.

Age Limit (as of the last date of application)

  • Upper Age Limit: 45 years
    Age Relaxation:
  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • PWBD (General): 10 years
  • PWBD (OBC): 13 years
  • PWBD (SC/ST): 15 years

Pay Scale

Selected candidates will receive a salary of ₹67,700/- per month as per Level 11 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix, along with Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) and other admissible benefits.

Reservation Policy

  • Reservations for SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidates are as per Central Government norms.
  • 4% of posts are reserved horizontally for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PWBD).
  • Candidates must produce valid category certificates in the prescribed format and in Hindi/English language.
    • OBC certificates must clearly mention “Non-Creamy Layer” status and be issued within one year before the application deadline.
    • EWS certificates must be valid for the financial year 2025–26 (issued on or after 01.04.2025).

Selection Process

  • Selection will be based on a Written Test and/or Interview.
  • If the number of applications exceeds three times the total vacancies, a written test will be conducted. Otherwise, candidates will be selected based on interviews only.
  • The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the combined marks of the written test (if conducted) and the interview.
  • No TA/DA will be provided for attending the test or interview.

  2. Fill out the application form carefully and upload the required documents:

  3. Pay the application fee online and submit the form.
  4. Download and keep a copy of the filled application form and fee receipt for future reference.

Important Instructions

  • Candidates working in Government/Semi-Government/PSU institutions must apply through the proper channel or submit a valid No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of interview.
  • Private practice of any kind is strictly prohibited during tenure.
  • Selected candidates may be posted at AIIMS Bhubaneswar main campus or its satellite centre at Balasore.
  • Tenure is subject to satisfactory performance review each year.
  • Candidates must join within 21 days of issuance of the appointment order; in exceptional cases, a 14-day extension may be granted.
