Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualifications
Candidates must possess a Postgraduate (M.Sc./M.Tech.) degree in the relevant subject from a recognized university or institution. For certain branches under the Physics Division, candidates with B.E./B.Tech. and a one-year specialization in the relevant field are also eligible.
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 21 years (as on 01.10.2025)
- Maximum Age: 65 years for retired officers
Age relaxation applies as per the norms of the General Administration Department, Bihar.

Selection Process
The selection will be carried out by a Recruitment Board constituted by the CID, Bihar. The process includes:
- Scrutiny of Applications – Verification of eligibility and documents.
- Merit List Preparation – Based on educational qualifications (especially postgraduate marks).
- Medical Examination – Candidates must meet the prescribed health standards.
- Vision must be 6/6 (with glasses if applicable).
- Color-blind candidates are not eligible.

Reservation Policy
Reservation benefits will be applicable as per General Administration Department, Bihar letter no. 11/A.Ni.-1-10/2023 Sa.Pra.-14396 dated 10.09.2024.
- Reservation will be extended only to candidates belonging to Bihar State.
- Candidates from outside Bihar will be considered under the Unreserved (General) category.
Additional Terms & Conditions
- Candidates may apply for both Assistant Director and Senior Scientific Assistant posts separately by submitting distinct applications.
- If a candidate is selected for both positions, he/she will be considered only for Assistant Director, and the name will be removed from the Senior Scientific Assistant merit list.
- Only Postgraduate qualification marks will be considered while preparing the merit list.
- A 50% additional waiting list will be maintained, valid for 11 months from the date of publication of the merit list.
- The contractual appointment will automatically terminate after 11 months and will not be treated as regular government service.
- Contract appointees will be entitled only to monthly honorarium and casual leave as per the Bihar Service Code and government guidelines.
- No other financial or service benefits will be admissible.
- Candidates must sign a contract agreement (Ekararnama) as per the format approved by the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department, Bihar (Resolution No. 03/M-78/2005-1003/Sa.Pra., dated 22.01.2021).
