The CSIR – Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSMCRI) is one of India’s premier research institutions under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. It specializes in research and development in salt and marine chemicals. The institute is now offering apprenticeship training to eligible candidates to provide hands-on industrial experience and enhance skill development.
The recruitment is open for 43 Apprentice positions across ITI, Diploma, and Graduate levels in different trades. Educational Qualification
The minimum educational qualification required varies by trade:
- For ITI Trades (Sr. No. 1–12):
Candidate must have passed ITI in the relevant trade from a recognized institute. - For Diploma Apprentices (Sr. No. 13–15):
Candidate must have passed a Diploma in the relevant engineering discipline from a recognized technical board or university. - For Graduate Apprentices (Sr. No. 16–18):
Candidate must possess a Degree in the respective engineering field from a recognized university or institution.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must have passed the relevant examination within the last three years.
- Candidates who have not previously undergone apprenticeship training are only eligible to apply.
- Applicants must be registered on the appropriate apprenticeship portals before submitting their applications:

- For Diploma/Degree trades: nats.education
- Only those candidates who are registered on the respective portals will have their applications considered.
- Candidates should ensure that they provide an active email ID and mobile number for all future communication and updates regarding the recruitment process.
Age Limit
Candidates applying for the CSIR – Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSMCRI) Apprentice Recruitment 2025 must meet the prescribed age criteria as per Government of India apprenticeship guidelines.
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age: 28 years
However, candidates from reserved categories will get relaxation in the upper age limit as per the rules set by the Government of India.
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
- SC/ST: 5 years
- PwD (Persons with Disabilities): 10 years

Pay Scale (Salary Details)
Candidates selected for the Apprentice Trainee positions at CSIR – Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSMCRI) will receive a monthly stipend as per the Government of India Apprenticeship Rules. The salary depends on the category of apprenticeship, as mentioned below:
- Graduate Apprentices: ₹9,000 per month
- Technician (Diploma) Apprentices: ₹8,000 per month
- Trade Apprentices (ITI): ₹7,000 per month
No other allowances such as HRA or TA/DA will be provided during the training period. The stipend is purely for the duration of apprenticeship training and does not imply any employment guarantee after completion of the training.
Selection Process
- The selection will be based on the scrutiny of applications and eligibility criteria fixed by the institute.
- Shortlisted candidates will be notified via email or speed post regarding the date, time, and venue of the interview.
- Only those candidates who meet all criteria and submit complete applications will be called for the interview.
- The final selection will be made after document verification during the interview.
There will be no written examination; selection will be purely merit-based as per eligibility and performance during the interview.

Step-by-Step Process:
- Visit the official website of CSMCRI: csmcri.res.in/jobs/temp.
- Download the prescribed Application Form for Apprentice Trainees.
- Fill out the form carefully in BLOCK letters in your own handwriting.
- Attach photocopies of the necessary documents (mentioned below) and make sure they are self-attested by the applicant.
- Paste your recent self-attested passport-size photograph on the top right corner of the form.
- Submit the completed application form at the Recruitment Cell, CSIR-CSMCRI, Bhavnagar, before 02 December 2025.
- Applications can also be obtained in person during office hours from the Recruitment Cell.

Stipend and Training Details
The selected candidates will be engaged as Apprentices under the Apprentice Act, 1961 for a fixed training duration as per government norms.
- Stipend: Will be paid as per Government of India apprenticeship rules.
(Exact stipend varies depending on trade and qualification level – ITI, Diploma, or Graduate.) - Training Duration: Generally one year, subject to satisfactory performance and completion of training requirements.
During this period, apprentices will gain valuable practical experience in a government research environment.
