The Government of Assam has released a new notification that opens the door to hundreds of job opportunities in the teaching sector. The Directorate of Elementary Education (DEE), Assam is inviting online applications from qualified candidates for the recruitment of Special Educators in Upper Primary (UP) Schools.
This initiative has been taken to improve the quality of elementary education in the state, particularly for children with special needs, in accordance with the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009 and the Supreme Court’s directives.
Through this recruitment drive, the government seeks to appoint 108 Special Educators in various districts. If you are a graduate with professional training in special education and have cleared either the Assam TET (ATET) or Central TET (CTET), this is your chance to secure a prestigious teaching post in the state’s government schools.

- Last date for submission of application: 30th September 2025 (till 5:00 PM)

The district-wise and category-wise allocation of these vacancies (General, OBC/MOBC, SC, ST(P), ST(H), PwD, Women, Ex-Servicemen) will be declared later, after the concerned departments finalize the roster system.

Eligibility Criteria
To apply for these posts, aspirants must meet specific eligibility conditions regarding nationality, educational background, age, and teaching qualification.
1. Nationality & Residency
- Applicants must be citizens of India as defined in the Constitution (Articles 5–8).
- They should also be permanent residents of Assam.
2. Educational Qualification
- A candidate must hold a graduate degree with at least 50% marks.
- They should also have a B.Ed. in Special Education, recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).
3. TET Qualification
- Must have passed ATET (Assam Teacher Eligibility Test) or CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) for the Upper Primary level.
- The language chosen in TET (either Language-I or Language-II) must match the medium of instruction of the school applied for.
4. Age Criteria (as on 1st August 2025)
- General candidates: 18–40 years
- Ex-Servicemen: up to 42 years
- OBC/MOBC: up to 43 years
- SC/ST(P)/ST(H): up to 45 years
- Persons with Disabilities (PwD): up to 50 years
5. Other Important Rules
- Candidates with more than two living children on or after 1st January 2021 will not be eligible.
- A self-declaration form regarding the small family norms must be submitted with the application.
- Candidates with Not Clear (NC) results in their academic record will not be considered.
- Only one application per candidate will be accepted against a specific ATET/CTET Roll Number.
- Only one improvement/betterment attempt in Higher Secondary or equivalent exams will be accepted.
Salary and Benefits
The selected candidates will enjoy a handsome pay scale along with government benefits:
- Pay Band – 2 (PB-2): Rs. 14,000/- to Rs. 70,000/- per month
- Grade Pay: Rs. 8,700/-
- Other allowances: As per the Assam Service (Revision of Pay) Rules, 2019
Apart from salary, selected teachers will also receive government benefits like pension, leave facilities, job security, and other admissible perks.
Selection Process

- Merit List Preparation
- A separate merit list will be published for each district and reserved category.
- Merit will be determined based on educational qualifications, professional training, and TET/CTET scores.

- All uploaded certificates will be verified digitally through DigiLocker, QR codes, and barcodes.
- Authorities may also conduct physical verification if required.
- Fraudulent Information
- Any false or mismatched information will lead to immediate disqualification.
- Offenders will be barred from future government recruitments and may face legal consequences.
Posting Location
- Candidates must be ready to serve in the district they select while applying.
- Transfers will be subject to government policy and school requirements.
