The office of the Deputy Commissioner, Tarn Taran, Punjab has announced the recruitment of Support Persons under the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) as per Section 39 of the POCSO Act, 2012. This initiative is aimed at strengthening child protection services and ensuring that children receive social, emotional, and legal support. Eligibility Criteria
- Age Limit:
- Minimum: 21 years
- Maximum: 65 years
- Educational Qualification:
- Postgraduate degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or Child Development
OR - Graduate degree with minimum 3 years of experience in child education, development, or protection issues
- Postgraduate degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or Child Development
- Other Eligible Applicants:
- Organizations working in the field of child rights or child protection
- Officials of children’s homes or shelter homes having custody of children
- Persons employed by the District Child Protection Unit
Selection Process
- Shortlisting: Based on educational qualification and experience.
- Interview: Personal interview conducted by the Selection Committee.
- Evaluation Criteria: Experience in child protection, academic background, and interaction during the interview.
- Final Selection: Recommendations of the Selection Committee, subject to approval by the Deputy Commissioner.
Term of Engagement
- Initial tenure of 3 years
- Performance reviewed annually by DCPO
- Can be extended beyond 3 years with District Magistrate’s approval
Salary / Remuneration
- ₹600 per visit
- Maximum 10 cases at a time allotted to each Support Person
- In exceptional cases, up to 20 cases may be allowed with District Magistrate’s approval
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide emotional, social, and legal support to children in distress.
- Assist children during police investigations and judicial hearings.
- Coordinate with Child Welfare Committees, law enforcement, and NGOs.
- Ensure compliance with child protection laws.
- Maintain proper case documentation.
