BAOU 2025 – Salary Structure
The monthly consolidated remuneration varies depending on the post:
- Professor of Practice: As per UGC norms
- Associate Professor: ₹70,000 per month
- Assistant Professor: ₹50,000 per month
- Research Associate: ₹47,000 per month
- Field Investigator: ₹20,000 per month
- Project Consultants / OSD: ₹75,000 per month

Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility conditions are governed by UGC Regulations 2018 and The Gujarat Public Universities Act, 2023, along with relevant university statutes.
1. For Associate Professor
Essential Qualifications:
- Ph.D. Degree in the concerned / allied / relevant discipline.
- Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade).
- Minimum 8 years of full-time teaching or research experience equivalent to that of an Assistant Professor.
- Evidence of research publications (at least 5 publications as books or policy papers).
- Contribution to educational innovation, new curriculum design, and technology-based teaching methods.
- API Score as per UGC norms (Appendix Table 2).
Preferable:
- Working knowledge of Gujarati.
- Experience in Open Distance Learning (ODL).
- Proficiency in computer applications.
2. For Assistant Professor
Essential Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree with 55% marks in relevant/allied subjects.
- Must have cleared NET/SLET/SET conducted by UGC/CSIR or equivalent.
OR
Ph.D. Degree awarded in accordance with UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016.
Additional Conditions for Ph.D. Holders (Pre-July 2009 Registrants):
- Ph.D. awarded in regular mode.
- Evaluation by at least two external examiners.
- Conducted open viva-voce.
- At least two research papers published (one in refereed journal).
- Two conference/seminar presentations based on Ph.D. work.
Preferable:
- Experience in Open Distance Learning.
- Basic computer knowledge.
3. For Professor of Practice
Eligibility:
- Expert professionals in disciplines like Gujarati, Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Indian Knowledge System (IKS), Economics, Sociology, Hindu Studies, Political Science, Library & Information Science, MSW, Public Administration, Journalism, History, Commerce, Management, Computer Science, Education, or Special Education.
- Appointment as per UGC norms.
4. For Research Associate (ICSSR Project)
- Postgraduate in a relevant subject or any Social Science discipline with at least 55%.
- Must hold NET/M.Phil./Ph.D. and have 2 years of research experience.
5. For Field Investigator
- Postgraduate degree in Social Science discipline with a minimum of 55% marks.
- Duration: Maximum 6 months project work.
6. For Project Consultants
Project Consultant – Internalisation Education
- Master’s Degree (55%) in International Relations, Management, Social Sciences, Humanities, Computer Science, or Computer Applications.
- Preferably Ph.D. with 10 years of higher education experience, including 5 years in international collaboration.
- Strong communication, analytical, and project management skills.
Project Consultant – NCVET / SSIP
- Master’s Degree in relevant subject or B.E./B.Tech./MBA.
- Experience in project execution, innovation, entrepreneurship, and business planning.
- Preference for candidates with ODL experience and knowledge of start-up ecosystems.
7. Officer on Special Duty (Exam Department)
Essential:
- Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks.
- Nine years of teaching experience as Assistant Professor, or equivalent administrative experience as Assistant Registrar.
Desirable:
- Basic computer skills, fluency in English and Hindi, and working knowledge of Gujarati.
- Experience in Open Distance Learning administration.
8. Statistical Analyst
Essential:
- Master’s Degree in Statistics / Mathematics / Allied subjects with at least 55%.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in data analysis and report preparation.
- Maximum Age: 36 years.
Desirable:
- Proficiency in English, computer literacy, and experience in ODL systems.
Age Limit
There is no fixed age limit for teaching posts. However, for Statistical Analyst, the maximum age is 36 years as of the closing date of application.
