Apprenticeship Trades and Vacancies
ECL has opened applications for ITI Apprenticeships in four trades: Fitter, Electrician, COPA, and Welder. The apprenticeship is for a one-year duration, after which the contract automatically terminates.

Note:
- The total number of apprentices across all trades is 280.
- The apprenticeship training is strictly for one year, with the contract automatically ending upon completion of the training period.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for engagement as ITI Apprentices:
1. Educational Qualification
- Candidate must possess an ITI certificate in the trade applied for.
- Candidates applying for COPA should have completed ITI in Computer Operator and Programming Assistant.
- A minimum of 40% marks in the ITI qualifying examination is required.
2. NAPS Registration
- Applicants must be registered on the NAPS (National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme) portal in the trade for which they are applying.
- The mobile number on e-Aadhaar must match the number used for registration on the NAPS portal.
3. State-Specific Application Rules
- Applicants are allowed to apply for a single trade in either West Bengal or Jharkhand.
- Applications submitted for both states will be rejected automatically.
4. Document Verification
- Candidates must successfully clear document verification to be eligible for engagement.
- Only those meeting all eligibility criteria will be considered for apprenticeship training.
Engagement Procedure
The engagement of ITI Apprentices involves multiple steps to ensure a merit-based, transparent selection process.
Step 1: Submission of Application
- Applications must be submitted in the prescribed format to the General Manager, HRD, Dishergarh, Paschim Burdwan, West Bengal, 713333.
- Mode of Submission: Only speed post or registered post is accepted. Applications sent by hand, courier, or outside the prescribed dates will be rejected.
- Last Date: 26th September 2025
Step 2: Merit List Preparation
- A merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in the ITI qualifying examination.
- Tie-breaking criteria:
- Candidate who passed ITI earlier gets preference.
- If the year of passing is the same, the older candidate is given seniority.
- If DOB is also identical, the candidate registered earlier on NAPS portal will be senior.
Step 3: Document Verification
- Applicants selected on the merit list will be invited for document verification.
- Verification ensures that all certificates, marksheets, and eligibility criteria are valid and authentic.
Step 4: Issuance of Engagement Letter
- After successful document verification, candidates will receive an Engagement Letter indicating:
- Place of posting
- Date of reporting
- Scheduled date for contract creation at ECL HQ
Step 5: Joining at Place of Posting
- Candidates must join at their assigned place of posting on the specified date.
- Upon joining, a joining letter will be issued at the training location.
Step 6: Contract Creation
- Candidates must report again to the HRD office with the joining letter for formal creation of apprenticeship contract on the NAPS portal.
- The location for apprenticeship training is decided by the General Manager (HRD) of ECL.
Stipend/Payment
The stipend for ITI Apprentices varies by trade:

- Violations or unsafe behavior may lead to termination of apprenticeship.
