The Eligibility Blueprint: Who Can Apply?

1. Nationality:
The applicant must be an Indian citizen, or a citizen of Nepal or Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of settling here permanently. Candidates from other categories must possess a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India.

- For Generalist Posts: A Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
- For Specialist (Rajbhasha) Posts: A Master’s degree in Hindi/Hindi Translation or English (with the other language in graduation) or related combinations with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST).
The Conquest: The Two-Stage Selection Process
Securing this position requires clearing two challenging hurdles.
Stage 1: The Online Examination
This is a computer-based test comprising two segments:
- A. Objective Test (Multiple Choice – 200 Marks):
- For Generalists: Tests on Reasoning, English Language, Computer Knowledge, General Awareness, and Quantitative Aptitude (140 minutes).
- For Specialists: Tests on Reasoning, English, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and Professional Knowledge (140 minutes).
- Beware: There is a penalty for wrong answers. A penalty of 0.25 marks will be applied for each incorrect answer in the examination.
- B. Descriptive Test (40 Marks):
- For Generalists: Essay and Precis Writing in English.
- For Specialists: Essay in English and a Translation exercise.
Candidates must clear both the sectional and overall cut-offs in the objective test to have their descriptive paper evaluated.
Stage 2: The Personal Interview
Candidates shortlisted from the online examination will be called for an interview in Delhi or Mumbai. The final merit list is prepared by combining the scores from the Online Examination and the Interview.
