Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), a premier shipbuilding and defense engineering company under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has released its official recruitment notification for 25 posts of Experts/Specialists. The recruitment is purely on a contract basis for an initial tenure of 3 years, which may be extended depending on performance and organizational requirements.

This recruitment drive is an excellent opportunity for retired Government/PSU professionals as well as qualified private sector experts with substantial experience in shipbuilding, naval systems, marine engineering, and defense-related projects. Candidates will be engaged in key technical domains including hull design, propulsion, electrical and electronic systems, weapon systems, HVAC, welding, and specialized shipyard operations.

Engagement Details

  • Mode of Engagement: Contractual
  • Tenure: 3 years (extendable by 1 year at a time, up to the age of 70, subject to performance and requirement)
  • Upper Age Limit: 62 years (as on 31.08.2025)
  • Monthly Emoluments:
    • Ex-Govt./PSU employees: Last drawn Basic Pay + DA (CDA/IDA rates at separation time).
    • Others: Decided by the selection committee considering academic qualification, nature and area of experience, job profile, and previous CTC.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Educational Qualification: Minimum Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Marine or equivalent). Some posts require specialized certifications (e.g., Welding, NBCDI).
  2. Experience Requirement:
    • Overall service: 15 years minimum.
    • Relevant experience: At least 5 years in the specific field as per the post requirement.
  3. Age Limit:
    • Maximum age: 62 years (as on 31.08.2025).
    • Contract extendable till the candidate reaches 70 years, based on requirement and performance.

Salary & Emoluments

Additional General Manager (E-5): ₹80,000–₹2,20,000

Deputy General Manager (E-4): ₹70,000–₹2,00,000

Senior Manager (E-3): ₹60,000–₹1,80,000

Manager (E-2): ₹50,000–₹1,60,000

Deputy Manager (E-1): ₹40,000–₹1,40,000

Assistant Manager (E-0): ₹30,000–₹1,20,000

Key Responsibilities

The engaged experts/specialists will be responsible for:

  • Technical supervision of shipbuilding and refit operations.
  • Installation, commissioning, and maintenance of ship systems.
  • Ensuring compliance with naval quality standards and defense specifications.
  • Monitoring specialized equipment such as propulsion systems, sensors, HVAC, welding units, weapons, and communication equipment.
  • Coordinating with user departments for system readiness.
  • Imparting training to GSL personnel on specialized systems.
  • Providing domain-specific expertise in complex naval projects.

Terms of Engagement

  1. Initial tenure of 3 years; extendable up to the age of 70 years depending on performance and requirement.
  2. Experts may be posted at any location in India as per project needs.
  3. Working hours will be as per project/department requirements.
  4. The post is purely contractual and does not guarantee permanent employment.
  5. Engaged experts cannot take up any other professional assignments during the contract.
  6. Canvassing or attempts to influence the recruitment process will lead to disqualification.
  7. Management reserves the right to:
    • Modify the number of posts.
    • Cancel recruitment at any stage.
