Government of Puducherry Recruitment 2025: Anganwadi Worker & Anganwadi Helper under Shaksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0

The Department of Women and Child Development, Puducherry, has announced a major recruitment drive to fill the positions of Anganwadi Workers (AWW) and Anganwadi Helpers (AWH) under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Shaksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0. This recruitment aims to strengthen the delivery of nutrition, pre-school education, and health services to children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers across Puducherry. The positions are offered on an honorarium basis and provide an excellent opportunity for local women from the Union Territory to engage in community service while contributing to national health and nutrition initiatives.

Total Vacancy:

The recruitment drive comprises a total of 618 vacancies, including:

  • Anganwadi Worker: 344 posts
  • Anganwadi Helper: 274 posts

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Anganwadi Worker (AWW):

  • Educational Qualification: Minimum Class XII Pass
  • Age Limit: 18 to 35 years as of 31st August 2025
  • Residency: Must be a female resident of the local community within a 5 km radius of the Anganwadi Centre
  • Proof of Residence: Residence certificate issued by the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management, Puducherry (Deputy Tahsildhar or higher)
  • Mode of Selection: Merit-based, calculated on the total marks obtained in Class XII examination. Selection will be carried out by a committee consisting of the Programme Officer, CDPO, and Medical Officer.

2. Anganwadi Helper (AWH):

  • Educational Qualification: Minimum Class XI Pass
  • Age Limit: 18 to 35 years as of 31st August 2025
  • Residency: Must be a female resident of the local community within a 5 km radius of the Anganwadi Centre
  • Proof of Residence: Same as above
  • Mode of Selection: Merit-based, calculated on Class XII marks. The selection committee is identical to that for AWW posts.

Honorarium/Salary:

  • Anganwadi Worker: Rs. 6,000 per month
  • Anganwadi Helper: Rs. 4,000 per month

Roles and Responsibilities:

Anganwadi Worker (AWW):

  1. Mobilize community participation in Shaksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0 initiatives.
  2. Maintain and operate the Poshan Tracker app, feeding beneficiary data, generating reports, and maintaining child health records.
  3. Conduct monthly weight measurements and health monitoring of children under six years.
  4. Undertake home visits to educate parents on child nutrition, growth, and development.
  5. Organize non-formal pre-school education for children aged 3–6 years and assist in creating play materials and toys.
  6. Administer supplementary nutrition programs for children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers.
  7. Provide counseling and education on breastfeeding, infant feeding practices, and maternal health.
  8. Encourage adoption of family planning measures and facilitate registration of births.
  9. Assist in the implementation of adolescent girls’ programs and nutritional schemes.
  10. Act as a depot holder for RCH kits, contraceptives, and disposable delivery kits under supervision of ANM.
  11. Identify children with special needs and refer them to medical facilities.
  12. Support immunization drives, health check-ups, and monitoring of public health programs.
  13. Maintain all required files, records, and reports for accountability.
  14. Carry out COVID-19 protocols and other emergency interventions as directed.
  15. Perform any other assigned duties under the Shaksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0 program.

Anganwadi Helper (AWH):

  1. Assist in cooking and serving food to beneficiaries.
  2. Maintain cleanliness in the Anganwadi Centre and surrounding areas.
  3. Fetch water and ensure hygienic conditions for children.
  4. Bring children from the village to the Anganwadi Centre for activities and meals.
  5. Assist the AWW in performing her duties and take charge in her absence.
  6. Carry out additional duties as assigned by senior staff from time to time.

  • Applications must be submitted before 31st October 2025.
  • Submission of certificates is not required at the time of application; only scanned proof of residence may be uploaded.
