4. Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility is a crucial aspect of this recruitment. Candidates must meet the requirements regarding nationality, age, educational qualifications, and other factors.

I. Nationality / Citizenship

A candidate must be either:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement, or
  • An individual of Indian heritage who relocated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or specific East African nations with the purpose of permanently residing in India.

Candidates under these categories must have an eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India.

II. Age Limit (as on 01.09.2025)

  • Office Assistants (Multipurpose): 18–28 years
  • Officer Scale I (Assistant Manager): 18–30 years
  • Officer Scale II (Manager): 21–32 years
  • Officer Scale III (Senior Manager): 21–40 years

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC (Non-creamy layer): 3 years
  • Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): 10 years
  • Ex-Servicemen: Age limit is the duration of service plus 3 years, with a maximum of 50 years.
  • Widows or Divorced Women: Age limit is 35 years for General/EWS, 38 years for OBC, and 40 years for SC/ST applicants.

III. Educational Qualification & Experience

  • Office Assistants (Multipurpose): Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Proficiency in the local language is mandatory.
  • Officer Scale I: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Preference for candidates with Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Agricultural Engineering, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Marketing, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics, or Accountancy.
  • Officer Scale II (General Banking Officer): Candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks and possess two years of experience in banking or financial services.
  • Officer Scale II (Specialist Officers): Relevant professional qualifications such as Chartered Accountant, Law, Treasury Management, Agricultural Officer, IT Officer, etc.
  • Officer Scale III: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks and five years’ experience in banking or financial institutions.

5. Application Fee

The application fee varies based on category and post applied for.

  • Officers (Scale I, II & III):
    • ₹175/- for SC/ST/PwBD
    • ₹850/- for all others
  • Office Assistants (Multipurpose):
    • ₹175/- for SC/ST/PwBD/ESM/DESM
    • ₹850/- for all others

Mode of Payment: Online only (Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI).

6. Selection Process

The selection process involves multiple stages depending on the post applied for.

For Office Assistants (Multipurpose):

For Officer Scale I:

  • Interview

For Officer Scale II & III:

  • Single-level Exam
  • Interview

Final selection for officers is based on the combined performance in the main/single examination and interview.

7. Exam Pattern

Preliminary Examination (Officers & Office Assistants)

  • Reasoning: 40 questions (40 marks)
  • Quantitative Aptitude: 40 questions (40 marks)
  • Duration: 45 minutes

Main Examination (Officers & Office Assistants)

  • Reasoning: 40 marks
  • Quantitative Aptitude: 40 marks
  • General Awareness: 40 marks
  • English/Hindi Language: 40 marks
  • Computer Knowledge: 40 marks
  • Total: 200 marks
  • Duration: 2 hours

Officer Scale II & III (Single Exam)

Consists of reasoning, quantitative aptitude, financial awareness, professional knowledge (for specialist officers), and language proficiency.

8. Penalty for Wrong Answers

A penalty of 0.25 marks (¼ mark) will be deducted for every wrong answer in both preliminary and main examinations. Unanswered questions will not incur any penalty.

9. Pre-Examination Training (PET)

Pre-exam training will be arranged for candidates belonging to SC/ST, PwBD, and minority communities. This is voluntary and is scheduled to take place in November 2025.

10. Provisional Allotment

  • After the completion of the interview and main/single examinations, candidates will be provisionally allotted to one of the participating RRBs based on merit and preference.
  • The provisional allotment is expected in February/March 2026.
