Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements to apply for the post of Nursing Officer:
1. Educational Qualification
- Essential:
- Degree in Nursing or Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Candidates must be registered with any State Nursing Council in India.
- Important Notes:
- Qualifications obtained after 06 November 2025 will not be considered.
- Applicants possessing equivalent degrees must produce an Equivalency Certificate from the concerned university at the time of verification.
- Qualifications acquired through open universities are not eligible for direct recruitment.
- Courses must have been pursued through the regular stream (10+2+3/4) pattern.
2. Age Limit
- Candidates should be between 18 and 35 years of age as on 06 November 2025.

3. Nativity / Residence Requirement
- Applicants must be natives of Puducherry or have continuous residence in the Union Territory of Puducherry for at least 5 years preceding the application deadline.
- On selection, candidates must produce a fresh Nativity/Residence Certificate issued by an officer not below the rank of Deputy Tahsildar in the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management, Puducherry.
4. Community Certificate
- Candidates belonging to MBC, OBC, EBC, BCM, BT, SC, and ST categories must produce fresh community certificates in the prescribed format, issued by an authorized officer not below the rank of Deputy Tahsildar.
- SC/ST candidates must furnish certificates under the Constitution (Pondicherry) Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes Orders.
5. EWS Certificate
- Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates must submit an Income & Asset Certificate issued by an authorized officer not below Deputy Tahsildar for the financial year 2024-25, valid for 2025-26.
6. Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD)
- Candidates applying under the horizontal reservation for PwBD must produce a Medical Certificate issued by the District Medical Board, Puducherry at the time of verification.
- Only specified functional categories of disability are eligible for the post.
Method of Selection
The selection process will be merit-based, with a total of 120 marks distributed as follows:
- Academic Qualification (50 marks)
- 50% marks from Higher Secondary (or equivalent) examination.
- 50% marks from Degree/Diploma in Nursing or equivalent.
- A 5% deduction will apply for each additional attempt beyond the first attempt to pass or improve results.
- Employment Exchange Registration / Seniority (Maximum 15 marks)
- 1.5 marks for each completed year from the date of registration in the Puducherry Employment Exchange.
- Maximum 15 marks.
- Candidates must maintain active and valid registration to claim marks.
- Incentive Marks for COVID Duty (Maximum 5 marks)
- Candidates who served as Nursing Officers during COVID-19 in Government-run institutions of Puducherry will be awarded 2 to 5 marks based on the duration of service:

Salary / Pay Scale
The post of Nursing Officer falls under Group ‘B’, Level 7 of the Pay Matrix as per the 7th Central Pay Commission.
- Basic Pay: As per Level 7 (entry-level), approximately ₹44,900 – ₹1,42,400
- Allowances: Includes Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other applicable government allowances.
