The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd. (IRCTC), a Navratna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, has released an official notification inviting applications for the engagement of “Hospitality Monitors” on a contractual basis.

Introduction

Vacancy Details

In addition to the 46 shortlisted candidates, IRCTC will maintain a Reserve Panel of 46 candidates for future requirements.

Nature of Engagement

The appointment of Hospitality Monitors will be purely on a fixed-term contractual basis.

• Extension: Up to 1 year, based on performance and organizational needs
• Employment Type: Temporary (No claim for regularization or permanent employment)

Remuneration and Allowances

Selected candidates will receive a consolidated monthly salary and additional allowances as per the rules:

Educational Qualifications

Candidates must possess any one of the following full-time degrees from a recognized institution or university:

1. B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration from a Central/State Institute of Hotel Management (CIHM/SIHM/PIHM) affiliated with NCHMCT/UGC/AICTE/Government of India.
2. BBA/MBA in Culinary Arts from Indian Culinary Institutes under the Ministry of Tourism.
3. B.Sc. in Hotel Management and Catering Science from Government-recognized universities affiliated with UGC/AICTE/Government of India/State Government.
4. MBA in Tourism and Hotel Management from Government-recognized universities affiliated with UGC/AICTE.

Note: Candidates must hold original documents supporting their qualification at the time of the walk-in interview.

Experience Requirement

• Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the hospitality or catering industry.
• Experience in areas such as hotel operations, food production, service supervision, or catering quality management will be preferred.

Only candidates with relevant work experience will be considered eligible to appear for the walk-in interview.

Selected candidates may be posted in the following states under IRCTC South Central Zone:

However, IRCTC reserves the right to deploy candidates anywhere in India based on operational requirements. Flexibility in relocation is essential for this role.

Selection Process

The selection process will be carried out through Walk-in Interviews only. There is no written exam or online test.

Steps in the Selection Process:

1. Application Submission:
   Candidates must bring the duly filled application form (available with the notification) to the interview venue.
2. Document Verification:
   Original documents, one set of self-attested photocopies, and two recent passport-size photographs must be presented.
3. Personal Interview:
   • Candidates will be evaluated based on their educational background, experience, communication skills, and hospitality knowledge.
   • Performance in the interview will determine final selection.
4. Merit and Reserve Panel:
   • Based on interview performance, candidates will be shortlisted in order of merit.
   • A Reserve Panel of equal number of candidates (46) will also be prepared for future vacancies.

Medical Fitness

The final selection is subject to medical fitness.

• Candidates must undergo a pre-employment medical examination prescribed for the post.
• The engagement will remain valid only if the candidate is declared medically fit and continues to maintain fitness throughout the tenure.

Scope of Work and Job Responsibilities

Hospitality Monitors are expected to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction in IRCTC’s catering and tourism services. Their duties include:

1. Supervision of Food Production and Service Quality – Monitoring food production, hygiene, and service quality in trains and static catering units.
2. Monitoring Mobile and Static Units – Supervising IRCTC-managed facilities such as Vande Bharat, Mail/Express trains, Tourist Trains, Bharat Gaurav Trains, Base Kitchens, and Cluster Kitchens.
3. Ensuring Cleanliness and Hygiene – Overseeing pest control, equipment functionality, and cleanliness of pantry areas.
4. In-Train Operations – Traveling on-board trains across India to monitor service delivery and passenger experience.
5. Compliance and Standards – Ensuring adherence to IRCTC’s operational policies and hospitality procedures.
6. Customer Service and Complaint Handling – Managing passenger grievances, collecting feedback, and ensuring timely resolution.
7. Team Coordination – Ensuring sufficient manpower, materials, and smooth coordination between IRCTC teams and catering service providers.
8. Safety and Statutory Compliance – Ensuring all statutory and food safety norms are met at all service points.
9. Staff Training – Educating onboard and kitchen staff in best hospitality practices and equipment maintenance.
10. Data Reporting and Analysis – Collecting feedback data, analyzing reports, and implementing corrective actions.

This role involves frequent travel and field-based supervision across multiple zones, making it ideal for candidates who are dynamic and passionate about hospitality management in a challenging and fast-paced environment.

General Conditions and Instructions

• The engagement is purely contractual and does not guarantee any regular or permanent employment in IRCTC.
• The engagement will remain provisional until antecedent verification is completed by competent authorities.
• False information, misrepresentation, or concealment of facts will result in immediate termination without notice or compensation.
• Either side can terminate the contract by giving one month’s notice.
• Unsatisfactory performance during the contract may lead to termination with 15 days’ notice.
• Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply.
• Candidates employed in Government/PSU organizations must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of the interview or provide a relieving letter upon selection.
• IRCTC reserves full rights to cancel, modify, or postpone the recruitment process at any stage.
• The number of vacancies may vary depending on actual requirements.
• Candidates must meet all eligibility criteria; failure to do so will lead to cancellation of candidature.
• Selected candidates will be required to submit a Security Deposit (SD) of ₹25,000 in the form of a Demand Draft.
  • The deposit will be forfeited if the candidate resigns before completing one year of service.
• No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
• Working knowledge of MS Office, report preparation, and problem-solving skills is desirable.
• Candidates must demonstrate the ability to make rational decisions under operational pressure.
