Note: 50% of the total vacancies are reserved for women. Additionally, 5% of women’s quota is reserved for divorced, abandoned, or widowed women. If no eligible candidates are available in this category, these posts will be merged back into the general women’s quota.

Eligibility Criteria
1. Residence
- Rural Home Guards: Must be a permanent resident of the concerned block in Chatra district where they are applying.
- Urban Home Guards: Must be a general resident of the urban area of Chatra district.
2. Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 19 years
- Maximum Age: 40 years
- Age calculated as on: 01 January 2025
- Relaxations will be as per Jharkhand government rules.
3. Educational Qualification
- Rural Home Guards: Minimum 7th Class Pass
- Urban Home Guards: Minimum 10th (Matric) Pass
4. Physical Standards
Applicable to both Rural and Urban candidates:
- Height:
- Male (General/OBC/BC): 162 cm
- Male (SC/ST): 157 cm
- Female (All Categories): 148 cm
- Chest (for Males):
- General/OBC/BC: 79 cm
- SC/ST: 76 cm
5. Technical Skills (Only for Urban Technical Home Guards)
Candidates must have technical expertise and practical experience in specific professions such as:
- Doctor, Engineer, Lawyer, Professor, Nurse, Computer Operator, Typist, Licensed Driver (HMV/LMV), Cook, Carpenter, Cobbler, Washerman, Barber, Electrician, Gardener, Plumber, etc.
Selection Process
The selection of candidates will be carried out in the following stages:
1. Physical Test
Candidates will undergo a physical efficiency test which includes:
- Race (1 mile):
- Male: within 5 minutes = 20 marks, up to 6 minutes = 10 marks, more than 6 minutes = disqualified
- Female: within 8 minutes = 20 marks, up to 10 minutes = 10 marks, more than 10 minutes = disqualified
- High Jump:
- Male: Minimum 4 feet (5 marks), 5 feet or more (10 marks)
- Female: Minimum 3 feet (5 marks), 4 feet or more (10 marks)
- Long Jump:
- Male: Minimum 12 feet (5 marks), 16 feet or more (10 marks)
- Female: Minimum 9 feet (5 marks), 13 feet or more (10 marks)
- Shot Put:
- Male: 16 pounds, minimum 16 feet
- Female: 10 pounds, minimum 10 feet
2. Hindi Writing Test
- For Rural Home Guards: 7th class level
- For Urban Home Guards: 10th class level
- Full Marks: 100
- Qualifying Marks: 30
3. Technical Skill Test (Only for Urban Technical Home Guards)
Candidates with technical skills will undergo a qualifying test.
- Full Marks: 100
- Qualifying Marks: 30
4. Merit List Preparation
After all tests, a merit list will be prepared based on performance in the above examinations. Candidates will then undergo:
- Document Verification
- Medical Examination
- Police Verification
Finally, selected candidates will undergo basic training at the Jharkhand Home Defense Corps Headquarters, Ranchi. Upon successful completion, they will receive a Home Guard Enrollment Certificate.
Additional Marks for Sports Quota
Candidates who have represented the nation or state in sports competitions will receive extra marks:
- National Level: 1st place = 6 marks, 2nd = 4 marks, 3rd = 2 marks
- State Level: 1st place = 3 marks, 2nd = 2 marks, 3rd = 1 mark
Additional Marks for Urban Home Guards (Government Servants)
Government servants applying for Urban Home Guard (Technical) posts will get marks based on educational qualifications:
- Postgraduate = 10 marks
- Graduate = 8 marks
- Intermediate = 6 marks
- Matric = 4 marks
Salary / Allowances
Home Guards are volunteer members of the Home Defense Corps. They are not permanent government employees and this recruitment is not a salaried job. Selected candidates will receive allowances on a per-day basis only for the days they are deployed on duty. The rates will be as per government norms.
