About the Programme Monitoring Unit (PMU)

The Programme Monitoring Unit (PMU) serves as a dedicated body to monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of welfare schemes and programs implemented across India.

The PMU State Coordinators will act as field officers who provide direct feedback to the Ministry about the ground-level execution of social welfare schemes, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

Selected candidates will work as PMU State Coordinators, responsible for:

  • Supervising the implementation of projects in various departments, states, and regions under the MSJE.
  • Ensuring projects meet the Ministry’s technical, managerial, and operational standards.
  • Conducting field visits for around 20 days per month to assess on-ground implementation.
  • Maintaining project data, reports, and confidential documents as per the Official Secrets Act, 1923.
  • Coordinating meetings, evaluations, and stakeholder discussions.
  • Upholding the highest standards of integrity as defined under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.

Job Location

All selected PMU professionals will be stationed at New Delhi, with frequent travel (around 20 days per month) to various States and Union Territories for field monitoring.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit:

  • Candidates must be below 28 years of age as of the last date of application.
  • Age relaxation is applicable as per Government of India norms:
    • SC/ST: 5 years
    • OBC: 3 years

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least 60% marks in any discipline.
  • The degree must be obtained from an institution ranked by the Ministry of Education (MoE) under the NIRF Rankings, specifically among:
    • Top 100 Overall Institutes
    • Top 100 Colleges
    • Top 100 Universities
    • Top 50 Research Institutes

Reservation Policy

  • Candidates will be eligible for community reservation only if their caste is listed under the recognized categories by the Central or State Government.
  • Applicants must possess valid and updated certificates in the prescribed format issued by the Government of India.
  • Requests for category changes after form submission will not be entertained.

Salary

Selected candidates will receive a consolidated monthly remuneration of up to ₹75,000.

Selection Process

The selection process includes an online examination consisting of two essay papers, each worth 50 marks (total 100 marks).

Exam Details:

  • Duration: 1 hour
  • Essay Topics:
    • Social issues
    • Social sector schemes by the Government of India
    • Issues of national importance
  • Each essay should not exceed 500 words.

The examination centers will be located across major cities in India. However, the Ministry reserves the right to allot any center regardless of the candidate’s preference.
