The National Investigation Agency (NIA), India’s premier counter-terrorism and federal investigation body, invites nominations to fill scientific and technical posts on deputation (ISTC) basis. These positions are aimed at experienced professionals from Central/State Government departments, public sector undertakings, universities, research institutions, and autonomous organizations.
Selected officers will contribute to high-level investigations, including forensic examination, cybercrime analysis, explosives handling, fingerprint identification, crime scene processing, and scientific photography. Eligibility Criteria
1. Technical Forensic Psychologist
- Educational Qualification: Master’s in Criminology or Clinical Psychology.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in applied psychology, criminology, or crime investigation.
- Desirable: PhD in Psychology, M.Phil in Clinical/Forensic Psychology, or PG Diploma in Forensic Psychology.
- Nature of Duties: Conduct polygraph tests, assist investigators, verify statements, maintain polygraph equipment.
2. Finger Print Expert
- Educational Qualification: M.Sc. in Science/Forensic Science, or B.Sc. with Chemistry.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in fingerprint identification and laboratory work.
- Desirable: Doctorate or certified fingerprint examination.
- Nature of Duties: Lifting and analyzing fingerprints, assisting in criminal investigations.
3. Explosive Expert
- Educational Qualification: Master’s in Chemistry or M.Sc. in Forensic Science with Chemistry.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in explosives and firearms analysis.
- Desirable: PhD in Chemistry.
- Nature of Duties: Collect and analyze explosives, examine devices, assist in investigation.
4. Cyber Forensic Examiner
- Educational Qualification: B.Tech/BE in Computer Engineering/IT, MCA/M.Sc. Computer Science/IT, or M.Tech in Computer Science/IT.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in digital investigation, cyber forensics, or cybersecurity.
- Nature of Duties: Retrieve and analyze digital data, investigate cybercrimes, and prepare reports.
5. Crime Scene Assistant
- Educational Qualification: Master’s in Biotechnology, Physics, Analytical Chemistry, or Forensic Science.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in crime scene processing.
- Nature of Duties: Collect evidence, maintain crime scene kits, assist in field investigations.
6. Photographer
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree + Diploma in Photography.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in scientific photography.
- Desirable: Experience in laboratory photography or videography.
- Nature of Duties: Photograph and video record crime scenes, suspects, and forensic evidence.
Age Limit: Maximum 56 years for all posts at the time of application.
Deputation Tenure: Typically 3 years, extendable as per Government of India norms.
Pay Scale and Allowances
- The posts of Technical Forensic Psychologist, Finger Print Expert, Explosive Expert, and Cyber Forensic Examiner carry a pay scale of Level-10, ranging from ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500.
- Crime Scene Assistant: Level-7 (₹44,900 – ₹1,42,400)
- Photographer: Level-6 (₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400)
- Special Security Allowance: All positions include a special allowance equal to 20% of the basic pay.
- Other Benefits: Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Travel Allowance as per Central Government rules
Selection Process
- Eligibility Verification: Applications will be scrutinized for qualifications, experience, and service records.
