The Ministry of Defence (Navy), through the Apprentice Training School, Naval Ship Repair Yard (NSRY), Sri Vijaya Puram – 744102, has announced the enrolment for Apprenticeship Training (IT-02 Batch) for the year 2025-26. This is an excellent opportunity for ITI-qualified candidates across India to undergo one-year Technician (Vocational) Apprentice Training in various designated trades under the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992, as amended from time to time.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Nationality and Character

  • Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must possess good moral character and have no criminal record.
  • Applicants must provide a Police Verification Certificate; any adverse record will lead to rejection.

2. Educational Qualification

  • Must have passed Matriculation (10th) or equivalent.
  • Must possess an ITI Certificate in the relevant trade under NCVT/SCVT.

3. Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years (as on one day before commencement of training).
  • Upper Age Limit: No restriction as per MSDE guidelines (OM dated 20 December 2021).

4. Physical Fitness

  • Must meet physical fitness standards prescribed under Rule 4 and Schedule II of Apprenticeship Rules, 1992.
  • Must produce a Medical Fitness Certificate issued by a Government Hospital/Dispensary.

5. Previous Apprenticeship

  • Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship in the same trade are not eligible.

Reservation of Vacancies

  • Reservation will follow Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 and Andaman & Nicobar Islands regulations.

a. Category Reservation: As per norms for SC, ST, OBC, and UR categories.
b. PwD Candidates: 3% horizontal reservation subject to physical fitness requirements.
c. Ex-Servicemen & Dependents: 3% reservation for ex-servicemen and their dependents as per Apprenticeship Training Manual guidelines.
d. Horizontal Adjustment: PwD and Ex-servicemen reservations adjusted within main categories.
e. Unfilled Seats: May be filled from other categories; no backlog will be carried forward.

Training Duration and Structure

  • The training duration is one year.
  • Conducted on-site at NSRY (Sri Vijaya Puram) under supervision of experienced naval instructors.
  • Focus areas include ship repair, electrical systems, mechanical fitting, weapon electronics, and AC maintenance.
  • Curriculum follows MSDE and DGT-approved Apprenticeship guidelines.

Selection Procedure

  1. Scrutiny of Applications: Verification of eligibility and correctness.
  2. Merit List: Based on marks obtained in 10th and ITI.
  3. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for verification and medical check.
  4. Final Selection: Based on merit, reservation, and medical fitness.
