The Railway Recruitment Cell, North Eastern Railway (NER), Gorakhpur has officially announced a golden opportunity for eligible and enthusiastic candidates through the ACT Apprentice Training Notification 2026–27. Online applications are invited from Indian citizens who wish to undergo Apprenticeship Training under the Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules, 1962. This training program aims to develop skilled manpower across various trades in multiple workshops and units under North Eastern Railway. With a total of 1104 apprentice slots, this recruitment drive covers divisions like Gorakhpur, Izzatnagar, Lucknow Junction, Gonda, and Varanasi. Candidates with the required educational qualifications and age criteria can apply online within the prescribed period.

Candidates must ensure that they meet the age criteria before submitting the online application.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have passed High School (10th Class) with at least 50% marks from a recognized board.
  • Candidates must also possess an ITI Certificate in the notified trade from a recognized institute approved by NCVT/SCVT.
  • The qualification must have been obtained as of 16.10.2025 (the date of notification).

Physical Standards

  • Selected candidates will be required to produce a Medical Fitness Certificate in the prescribed format issued by an authorized medical officer.
  • Eligibility of PwBD candidates for particular trades shall be governed by Railway Board guidelines.

Processing Fee

  • Application Fee: ₹100 (One Hundred Rupees only)
  • Exempted Categories: SC, ST, PwBD (Divyang), and Female candidates are exempted from payment of the fee.
  • Mode of Payment: Online through the official application portal.

Mode of Selection

The selection process for the NER Apprentice Training 2026–27 will be merit-based, with no written exam or interview. The merit list will be prepared by taking the average percentage of marks obtained by candidates in both Matriculation (10th) and ITI examinations, giving equal weightage to both.

  • Candidates may opt for multiple units or trades in their application.
  • In case the candidate’s merit position does not qualify them for their first choice, the subsequent available choice will be allotted.
  • Provisionally selected candidates will be called for Document Verification at Gorakhpur, where they must bring original certificates, a copy of the online application, medical certificate, passport-sized photos, and all relevant testimonials.
  • Apprenticeship training will begin at the allotted unit after successful verification.

Training & Stipend

  • Training will be conducted in accordance with the standards and syllabus prescribed by the Central Apprenticeship Council.
  • Apprentices will be registered with Regional Directorate of Apprenticeship Training (RDAT), Kanpur.
  • During the apprenticeship period, candidates will be paid a stipend at the prescribed rates in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Government of India and Railway Board instructions.

Important Terms and Conditions

  1. No Employment Guarantee: Apprentices trained under this scheme shall have no right to claim employment in Railways upon completion of training.
  2. Disqualification: Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate.
  3. No TA/DA: Candidates appearing for Document Verification will not be provided any travel or accommodation expenses.
  4. Ineligible Candidates: Engineering graduates or diploma holders are not eligible for this apprenticeship.
  5. Contract Agreement: Selected candidates must execute a contract of apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act, 1961. For minors, a parent or guardian must sign on their behalf.
  6. Discontinuation: If a candidate discontinues the training without valid reasons, they must refund the stipend received and cost of training as per Railway rules.
  7. False Information: Any false declaration or misconduct will result in cancellation of candidature and removal from training.
  8. Official Communication: All communication regarding selection, document verification, or updates will be published on the North Eastern Railway official website only. Candidates must regularly check updates; no individual call letters will be sent.
