Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), one of India’s largest public sector enterprises under the Ministry of Power, has once again announced an excellent opportunity for young, talented, and enthusiastic candidates. Known as a Maharatna company, POWERGRID plays a vital role in transmitting about 50% of the total power generated in India through its vast nationwide transmission network.
For the year 2025-26, POWERGRID’s Southern Region-II (SR-II) has released a notification for apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961. The program is open for fresh graduates, diploma holders, ITI pass-outs, and postgraduates in specific professional courses. The apprenticeship will be for a duration of one year, during which selected apprentices will get hands-on practical training, industrial exposure, and monthly stipends.
The notification covers apprenticeship opportunities across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry. This is a golden chance for students and freshers to kickstart their careers with real-time exposure in one of India’s most prestigious public sector companies.

Age Limit
- Candidates must have completed 18 years of age as of the closing date.
Educational Qualification (Full-time Regular Courses Only)
- ITI (Electrician): ITI in Electrician Trade.
- Diploma (Electrical): Diploma in Electrical Engineering (3 years).
- Diploma (Civil): Diploma in Civil Engineering (3 years).
- Graduate (Electrical): B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.
- Graduate (Civil): B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. in Civil Engineering.
- Graduate (Electronics/Telecom): B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. in Electronics/Telecommunication.
- Graduate (Computer Science): B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. in Computer Science/IT.
- HR Executive: MBA (HR) / PG Diploma in Personnel Management / Industrial Relations (2 years).
- CSR Executive: Master’s in Social Work (MSW) or Rural Development/Management.

Additional Eligibility Conditions
- Candidates must have completed their degree/diploma within the last two years (from 07.10.2023 to 06.10.2025).
- Must be medically fit as per the Apprentices Act.
- Candidates awaiting results, having more than 1 year of job experience, or who have already undergone apprenticeship training are not eligible.
Salary / Stipend
POWERGRID provides an attractive monthly stipend to apprentices:
- ITI (Electrician): ₹13,500/- per month
- Diploma (Civil/Electrical): ₹15,000/- per month
- Graduates & Executives (All streams): ₹17,500/- per month
- Additional HRA Allowance: ₹2,500/- per month (if company accommodation is not provided).
- Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) from Govt. of India: ₹4,000/- (Diploma apprentices) and ₹4,500/- (Graduate apprentices).
Selection Process
The selection process is completely merit-based. There is no written exam or interview.
- Applications will be screened based on academic qualifications.
- A merit list will be prepared state-wise and trade-wise.
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification in a ratio of 1:5.
- Final selection will be based on merit, verification of documents, medical fitness, and signing of apprenticeship contracts.
Training Details
- Duration: 1 year apprenticeship training.
- Location: Candidates may be posted in various POWERGRID substations and offices across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry.
- Accommodation: Shared bachelor accommodation may be provided; otherwise, HRA of ₹2,500/- will be paid.
- Leave Policy:
- 12 days Casual Leave (pro-rata basis)
- 15 days Medical Leave
- Discipline & Conduct: Apprentices must follow company rules, maintain confidentiality, and perform duties sincerely. Any misconduct, absenteeism, or poor performance may lead to termination.
- No Employment Guarantee: Completion of apprenticeship does not guarantee permanent employment in POWERGRID.
