Prasar Bharati is seeking skilled professionals to strengthen editorial content management at its regional news units (RNUs). Selected candidates will be responsible for ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and quality of news content in print, audio, and video formats. This role offers exposure to national and regional media operations and requires coordination with multiple teams, including stringers and editorial staff.

The Copy Editor role is crucial for enhancing content presentation, tagging multimedia appropriately, converting audio/video to text, performing translations if needed, and feeding news updates into shared platforms efficiently.

Eligibility Criteria

Prasar Bharati has set clear eligibility requirements to ensure that candidates meet professional standards for editorial roles.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must satisfy one of the following:

  1. Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 5 years of experience in mainstream media.
    OR
  2. Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism, Mass Communication, or a relevant field with minimum 3 years of experience in mainstream media.

Language Requirements

  • Proficiency in Hindi and English.
  • Working knowledge of the respective regional language at the posting location.

Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with search engines and social media tools.
  • Strong understanding of regional and national current affairs.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple teams within the media unit.

Age Limit

  • Maximum Age: Candidates should not be older than 35 years as on the notification date.
  • Age relaxation rules as per government norms (if applicable).

Consolidated Remuneration / Pay Scale

  • Monthly Remuneration: ₹35,000 (fixed)
  • Note: This is a contractual engagement, and no additional allowances, benefits, or pension will be provided.

Job Responsibilities / Nature of Duties

Copy Editors will be responsible for managing and enhancing news content at the regional level. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Editorial Coordination: Managing content workflow from regional stringers and news teams.
  2. News Prioritization: Identifying and prioritizing news stories based on relevance and timeliness.
  3. Meta-Tagging: Adding metadata and tagging videos, audio, and graphics appropriately.
  4. Content Transcription: Converting audio/video content to text using technology and performing quality checks.
  5. Translation: Translating news content if required.
  6. Timely Feed Updates: Uploading and feeding information promptly on the shared feed platform.
  7. Content Oversight: Ensuring overall content quality and accuracy across all news stories.

Selection Process

  • Screening: Applications will be screened based on qualifications, experience, and eligibility.
  • Test / Interview: Shortlisted candidates may be required to undergo a written test and/or personal interview.
  • Performance-Based Selection: Selection is purely based on performance during the test or interview.

Important Note: No TA/DA will be provided for attending the test or interview.

Contractual Terms & Conditions

  • Engagement is purely contractual and does not guarantee permanent employment in Prasar Bharati.
  • Full-time commitment is required; candidates cannot take up other assignments during the contract period.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned as needed by the organization.
  • Initial contract is one year, subject to annual appraisal and extension based on performance.
  • Either party can terminate the engagement with one month’s notice or one month’s salary in lieu of notice.
  • No pensionary or other employee benefits will be provided.
  • The organization reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of vacancies based on requirement.
