The North Western Railway (NWR), Jaipur, has released a fresh recruitment notification for the engagement of Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961 for the training year 2025–26. A total of 2162 apprenticeship training slots are available across different divisions and workshops under the North Western Railway. Total Vacancies
North Western Railway has announced a total of 2162 training slots for apprenticeships across its divisions and workshops. These positions are spread over Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaipur, Jodhpur, and various carriage and loco workshops.
Application Fees
- General and OBC candidates: ₹100/- (Non-refundable)
- SC/ST candidates: No fee
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): No fee
- Women candidates: No fee
The fee must be paid online via debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI. Transaction charges, if any, will have to be borne by the candidate.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the North Western Railway Apprenticeship 2025, candidates must meet the following eligibility conditions:
1. Age Limit (as on 02 November 2025):
- Minimum age: 15 years
- Maximum age: 24 years
2. Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST candidates: 5 years relaxation (up to 29 years)
- OBC candidates: 3 years relaxation (up to 27 years)
- PwBD candidates: 10 years relaxation
- Ex-servicemen: Relaxable up to length of service rendered in Defence plus 3 years (maximum age limit applies as per rules).
3. Educational Qualification:
- Must have passed 10th Class (Matriculation) or equivalent examination under the 10+2 system with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (rounding off is not allowed).
- Must possess an ITI certificate in the relevant trade issued by NCVT or SCVT.
Candidates awaiting final results of their examinations are not eligible to apply.
Selection Process
The selection of candidates will be based on a merit list.
- Merit Preparation
- Merit list will be prepared by taking the average of percentage of marks in Matriculation and ITI in the relevant trade.
- All subjects in Matriculation will be considered (not just specific ones).
- ITI marks will be considered from the final/provisional certificate.
- Tie-Breaking Rule
- If two candidates secure the same marks, the older candidate will be preferred.
- If the date of birth is also the same, the one who passed Matriculation earlier will be preferred.
- Document Verification & Medical Test
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for Document Verification (DV) at the opted unit/division.
- They will also undergo a medical examination as per prescribed standards.

2. Bikaner Division (DRM Office) – 475 Vacancies
Trades: Fitter, Power Electrician, Electrician (Coaching/TRD), Welder (Engg/Mech).
3. Jaipur Division (DRM Office) – 545 Vacancies
Trades: Fitter (Mechanical), Electronics Mechanic, Electrician (General & TRD).
4. Jodhpur Division (DRM Office) – 450 Vacancies
Trades: COPA, Stenographer (Hindi/English), Cabin Attendant, House Keeper, Electrician, Mechanic Refrigeration & AC, Fitter, Diesel Mechanic.
5. BTC Carriage, Ajmer – 97 Vacancies
Trades: Painter, Fitter, Welder, Electrician.
6. BTC Loco, Ajmer – 68 Vacancies

Training Period & Stipend
- Training will be carried out as per the Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992.
- Stipend will be paid as per the rules issued by the Railway Board from time to time.
- No hostel accommodation will be provided. Selected candidates must arrange their own lodging during the training period.
Agreement of Training
Before beginning the apprenticeship, selected candidates (or their guardians, if the candidates are minors) will have to sign a Contract of Apprenticeship with the employer as per rules.
Medical Fitness
Candidates must be physically fit to undergo apprenticeship training. At the time of document verification, they need to produce a medical fitness certificate signed by a Government Authorized Doctor (Gazetted rank, not below Assistant Surgeon) from a Central/State hospital.
Reservation Policy
- Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen will be applicable as per Government of India rules.
- PwBD candidates must meet the prescribed physical standards as per railway requirements (different trades have different permissible disability conditions).
- Unfilled reserved seats may be filled by candidates from other categories as per rules.
Salary / Stipend Scale
The selected apprentices will receive a stipend as per the rates fixed by the Government under the Apprentices Act, 1961 and as amended from time to time by the Ministry of Railways. Though the exact stipend amount is not mentioned in the notification, generally, ITI trade apprentices in railways receive stipends ranging from ₹7,000 to ₹9,000 per month, depending on trade and duration of training.
