The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna Public Sector Enterprise and one of India’s largest steel producers, has released a recruitment notification for 124 Management Trainee (Technical) posts in various engineering disciplines. SAIL, with a turnover of over ₹1 lakh crore for the financial year 2024–25, plays a crucial role in the nation’s industrial growth. This recruitment aims to attract young, talented, and result-oriented engineering graduates to work in its plants, units, and mines located across India. Selected candidates will undergo structured training and development programs before taking on key managerial roles within the company.

Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess a Degree in Engineering or Technology with at least 65% marks (average of all semesters) in any of the following disciplines, obtained through a full-time regular course from a recognized university/institute approved by UGC/AICTE.
Relaxation in Marks:
SC, ST, PwBD, and Departmental Candidates are eligible with 55% marks (average of all semesters).

Medical Standards
Candidates must be of sound health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with their performance.
- Minimum Height: 155 cm
- Minimum Weight: 45 kg
- Vision: Myopia or Hypermetropia not exceeding ±4.00 in each eye
- Color Vision: Normal, without squint
- Relaxation: Height and weight relaxations for female candidates
Only candidates with Orthopedic Disabilities (OA/OL/OAL) of 40% or more and Dwarfism are eligible under the PwBD category.
Selection Process
The selection process will consist of three stages:
- Online Computer-Based Test (CBT)
- Group Discussion (GD)
- Interview
1. Online Examination (CBT)
- The CBT will be conducted tentatively in January–February 2026.
- The test will have 200 marks divided into two parts:

Candidates must qualify in both parts to be shortlisted for the GD and Interview stages.
2. Group Discussion and Interview
Candidates who qualify in the CBT will be called for GD and Interview in the ratio of 1:3 (discipline and category-wise).
Final Merit List Weightage:
- Online Test (CBT): 75%
- Group Discussion: 10%
- Interview: 15%
In case of a tie in final marks, the candidate with higher CBT marks will be preferred. If a tie persists, the marks obtained in the qualifying degree (B.E./B.Tech.) will be considered.
Training and Probation
Selected candidates will be appointed as Management Trainees (Technical) and placed on training for one year.
They will be registered as Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961.
After successful completion of training, they will be placed on probation for one year as Assistant Managers in E1 grade.
Salary Scale and Pay Structure
- During Training: Basic Pay of ₹50,000 per month
- After Probation: Pay Scale ₹60,000 – ₹1,80,000 per month (E1 Grade)

Placement and Service Conditions
- Selected candidates can be posted at any SAIL plant, unit, or mine across India.
- No request for transfer will be entertained for the first four years of service (two years for departmental candidates).
- Candidates must be willing to serve anywhere in India.

- Submit the form and download the system-generated registration slip for your records.
Important Note:
- Once submitted, details like category or name cannot be changed.
- Applications without fees, photographs, or signatures will be rejected.
- All communication regarding admit cards, results, and interviews will be made via email or SMS only.
Important Instructions
- Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply.
- The minimum age for regular employment is 18 years.
- Candidates working in Government/PSU organizations must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of the interview.
