South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has announced a significant internal recruitment drive for the post of Assistant Foreman (Electrical) Grade-C. Vacancy Details

The total number of vacancies for the Assistant Foreman (Electrical) Grade-C post is 543. The category-wise distribution is as follows:

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility is determined as of 30th September 2025.

1. Educational & Technical Qualification:

There are two streams under which candidates can apply:

  • Stream A(I):
    • Qualification: Diploma in Electrical Engineering (3-year course approved by AICTE) OR a Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
    • Experience: Departmental candidates must have 3 years of experience.
    • On Selection: Will be placed as Assistant Foreman (Electrical) Trainee, T&S Grade-C. The trainee period will be for two years, after which they will be confirmed in the post.
  • Stream A(II):
    • Qualification: Diploma/Non-Diploma holders possessing a supervisory certificate valid for working as an Electrical Supervisor in Mines (with Mining Part) under the Indian Electricity Rules.
    • Experience: Must be a permanent employee of SECL.
    • On Selection: Will be directly placed as Assistant Foreman (Electrical), T&S Grade-C.

2. Service Conditions:

  • Only permanent and regular departmental employees are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must clearly specify if their work nature is Underground or Surface.
  • For Stream A(I) applicants, the annual attendance for the past three years (specific periods from 2022 to 2025) must be a minimum of 240 days for surface workers and 190 days for underground workers (pro-rata for partial years).
  • The Confidential Report for the last three years should not be rated “Poor” in any one year.

Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be appointed in the T&S Grade-C pay scale with protected pay and allowances as per company regulations, ranging from ₹20,000 to ₹40,000 per month.

Selection Process

The selection will be based solely on a written test.

  • Mode of Selection: Written Examination
  • Type of Test: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) on OMR sheets.
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Number of Questions: 100 (Each question carries 1 mark).
  • Negative Marking: There is no negative marking.

Written Test Marking Pattern:

  • Mental Ability/Quantitative Aptitude/Logical Reasoning: 20 Marks
  • General Awareness & Knowledge about CIL/SECL: 20 Marks
  • Subject Knowledge (Technical): 60 Marks

Qualifying Marks:

  • General Category: 35% of total marks.
  • SC/ST Category: 30% of total marks.

Merit List Preparation:
The merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in the written test. In case of a tie, the following criteria will be used in sequence:

  1. Date of Initial Appointment (earlier date gets priority).
  2. Date of Birth (older candidate gets priority).
  3. Alphabetical order of the candidate’s name.

How to Apply

Eligible and interested SECL employees must apply only through the online portal.

  1. Application Portal: The application must be submitted via the SECL internal selection portal. (The link is available on the official SECL website and is a LAN-based site accessible from office computers).
  2. Registration: Candidates must use an authorized and active phone number and email ID for registration. Those who have registered previously can log in with their credentials.
  3. Document Upload: Applicants are required to upload self-attested, clear, and legible copies of the following documents based on their chosen stream:
    • For Stream A(I): Matriculation certificate, Diploma/Degree certificate.
    • For Stream A(II): Supervisory Certificate for Mines (Electrical Supervisor).
  4. Operation Figure: The announcement does n’t mention any operation figure.
  5. Final Submission: After filling the form and uploading documents, the application must be submitted online. The application will then be forwarded by the respective Unit HR Officer after verification of eligibility.
