Education is a fundamental instrument for women empowerment, social upliftment, and economic growth. In Odisha, despite significant improvements in girls’ enrollment at the secondary education level, a major gap persists at the vocational and technical training stage. The Sudakshya Scheme, launched by the Directorate of Technical Education and Training (DTE&T), Odisha, addresses this critical issue. The scheme aims to increase girl enrollment in Government ITIs and Polytechnics by offering financial assistance, maintenance allowances, and incentives to ensure continued participation in vocational education and skill development programs. By bridging financial and awareness barriers, the scheme promotes equitable access to technical education for girls, enhancing employability and self-reliance. This initiative also contributes to achieving the government’s target of 30% female enrollment in vocational and technical institutions.
