The UPSC ESE 2025 exam will recruit approximately 232 engineers in various government departments. The vacancies are divided into four major categories:

Eligibility Criteria for UPSC ESE 2025
To apply for the exam, candidates must meet the following eligibility conditions:
1. Nationality
The applicant must be either:
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or
- A Tibetan refugee (who came to India before 1 January 1962), or
- A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African countries.
2. Educational Qualification
- A degree in Engineering from a recognized University/Institution.
- Candidates with equivalent qualifications recognized by the Government of India are also eligible.
3. Age Limit (as on 1st January 2025)
- Minimum Age: 21 years
- Maximum Age: 30 years
Age Relaxation
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- Defence Services Personnel: 3 years (subject to conditions)
- Ex-Servicemen (including ECOs/SSCOs): 5 years
The maximum age, including relaxations, cannot exceed 35 years.
4. Physical Standards
Candidates must meet the medical and physical fitness requirements as prescribed by UPSC.

Selection Process – UPSC ESE 2025
The selection process consists of three stages:
- Preliminary Examination (Objective Type) – 500 marks
- Main Examination (Conventional Papers) – 600 marks
- Personality Test (Interview) – 200 marks

1. Preliminary Exam
- Paper I (General Studies & Engineering Aptitude): 200 marks, 2 hours
- Paper II (Engineering Discipline specific): 300 marks, 3 hours
- Total: 500 marks
- Negative Marking: 1/3rd of marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
2. Main Exam
- Paper I (Discipline-specific): 300 marks, 3 hours
- Paper II (Discipline-specific): 300 marks, 3 hours

3. Personality Test
- Interview: 200 marks

Salary & Benefits
Candidates selected through UPSC ESE 2025 will be appointed as Class I Officers in various engineering departments.
