These apprenticeship positions aim to provide hands-on experience to engineering graduates and diploma holders in various port operations, maintenance, and engineering services.
Monthly Stipend
Apprentices will be entitled to the following monthly stipend during the training period, as per Government norms:
- Graduate Apprentices: ₹9,000/- per month
- Technician (Diploma) Apprentices: ₹8,000/- per month
The stipend will be paid directly into the apprentice’s bank account through electronic transfer.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed their Degree or Diploma in Engineering in the relevant discipline from a recognized university or institution.
1. Graduate Apprentices
- A Degree in Engineering or Technology granted by a statutory university.
- A Degree in Engineering or Technology granted by institutions empowered by an Act of Parliament to confer such degrees.
- Candidates should have passed the examination during 2022, 2023, or 2024.
2. Technician (Diploma) Apprentices
- A Diploma in Engineering or Technology granted by a State Council or Board of Technical Education established by a State Government.
- A Diploma in Engineering or Technology granted by a recognized university in the relevant discipline.
- Diploma completed during 2022, 2023, or 2024 will be accepted.
Additional Requirements
- Candidates must be registered on the MHRD NATS Portal before applying.
- Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing Apprenticeship Training are not eligible.
- Those who are currently employed elsewhere or have previous work experience exceeding one year cannot apply.
Age Limit
- The age limit will be followed as per the Apprenticeship Rules set by the Government of India.
- Usually, candidates aged 18 years and above are eligible to apply.
Reservation Policy
Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD categories will be implemented as per the provisions of the Apprentices Act and Government of India guidelines.
- Candidates claiming reservation must submit a valid category certificate issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format.
- OBC candidates must provide a Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued by the Tahsildar or relevant authority.
If candidates fail to produce valid certificates, their application will be treated under the General category.
Duration of Training
- The apprenticeship training will be for a period of one year only.
- No extension will be granted beyond this period under any circumstances.
Selection Process
The selection of candidates will be purely merit-based, depending on the marks obtained in their qualifying examination (Degree/Diploma).

The merit list will be prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained in the qualifying examination. - Preference for VPA Employee Dependents:
Preference will be given to the children of VPA employees (including deceased, medically invalidated, superannuated, or serving employees). - Certificate Verification:
Shortlisted candidates will be called for certificate verification at the Visakhapatnam Port Authority premises. The final rank list will be prepared after verification by BOAT (Southern Region) officials and VPA authorities.
No written examination or interview will be conducted. Final selection will be based on merit and document verification.

A. For Students Already Registered on the NATS Portal
- Visit the official NATS website.
- Login using your credentials.
- Click on “Establishment Request”.
- Choose “Find Establishment”.
- Upload your updated resume.
- Type “VISAKHAPATNAM PORT AUTHORITY” in the search box.
- Click on “Apply” twice to confirm your application.
B. For Students Not Registered on the NATS Portal
- Visit Our Website.
- Click on “Enroll” and fill out the registration form.
- A unique Enrollment Number will be generated upon completion.
- Wait at least one working day for verification by BOAT (SR).
- Once verified, log in and follow the same procedure as above to apply for the VPA establishment.
Note: Applications submitted without NATS registration will be summarily rejected.
Additional Instructions for Candidates
- Candidates must ensure that all the information entered in the online application form is correct and verifiable.

- The name of the candidate should match the name mentioned in the secondary or equivalent certificate.

Training Conditions and Employment Terms
- Apprentices will receive training for a period of one year in their respective departments.
- Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, Visakhapatnam Port Authority has no obligation to provide regular employment.
- Apprentices cannot claim any right to employment based on the training.
- The apprenticeship program is purely training-based, and VPA’s liability ends upon completion of the training period.
