Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) & Safdarjung Hospital is one of India’s largest and most reputed government teaching hospitals. Every year, it recruits Senior Residents for multiple specialties to ensure high-quality patient care and to provide postgraduate doctors with structured clinical training.
Through this notification, the institute has invited applications for regular Senior Resident posts for a three-year tenure. The appointment will initially be for one year and then extended annually based on performance and conduct.
The recruitment process includes a screening test, departmental assessment, and document verification. Applicants are advised to prepare their documents in advance as only online applications will be accepted.

Eligibility Criteria (Department-wise)
The basic eligibility requirement is:
- MBBS + PG Degree/Diploma/DNB in the relevant specialty,
- The qualification must be recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) or Dental Council of India (DCI) where applicable,
- Candidates must have valid registration with the Delhi Medical Council (DMC) / Delhi Dental Council (DDC) before joining.

- Cancer Surgery / CTVS / General Surgery / Paediatric Surgery / Renal Transplant / SIC Ortho / SIC Rehab / SIC Sports Medicine: MBBS + PG/DNB/Diploma in Surgery (or relevant branch)
- Cardiology / Endocrinology / Nephrology / Neurology / Haematology: MBBS + PG/DNB/Diploma in Medicine or Pediatrics as applicable
- Emergency Medicine: MBBS + PG/DNB in Emergency Medicine or related branches
- Obstetrics & Gynaecology: MBBS + PG/DNB/Diploma in OBG
- Orthopaedics: MBBS + PG/DNB/Diploma in Orthopaedics

Maximum permissible age:
- General/EWS: 45 years
- OBC: 48 years
- SC/ST: 50 years
- PwBD: Relaxation as per Government of India norms
Age will be calculated as of the last date of submission of online application.
Pay Scale
Selected candidates will receive salary as per 7th Central Pay Commission:
- ₹67,700 per month (Pay Level-11)
- Plus allowances such as DA, HRA, NPA (as applicable), and other admissible Govt. benefits.

Mode of Selection
The recruitment process includes two major stages:
Stage 1: Screening Test (Written Examination)
- Duration: 1 hour
- Type: MCQs
- Total Marks: 60
- Marking Scheme:
- +1 mark for each correct answer
- -0.25 mark for each wrong answer
- No negative marking for unattempted questions
- Based on marks, three candidates per vacancy will be called for departmental assessment.
Stage 2: Departmental Assessment (40 Marks)
The assessment includes:
- Chairman evaluation: 10 marks
- Subject experts: 30 marks (10 marks each)
- Publications: Up to 4 marks
- Paper presentation in CME/Conference: Up to 3 marks
- Distinctions/Awards/Medals: Up to 3 marks
Final Merit List
Final selection = Marks of Screening Test + Assessment.
A waiting list will also be prepared in each category.

Important Conditions
- All candidates will be provisionally allowed for the written exam; eligibility will be checked later.

- No TA/DA will be provided for attending the exam or interview.
- No individual call letters will be issued; updates will only be uploaded online.
- The selected candidate must join within the specified time, failing which the offer will be given to the next candidate.
- Inter-hospital or inter-institution transfers are not allowed.
