Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized State Council for Engineering & Technical Education or an equivalent institution
- Candidates with higher qualifications in Mechanical Engineering are also eligible
Age Limit:
- Maximum age: 37 years as of 1st January 2025
- Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST of West Bengal: +5 years
- OBC of West Bengal: +3 years
- Persons with benchmark disabilities (40% and above): up to 45 years
- Ex-servicemen: Deduction of military service period, within limits
Other Requirements:
- Candidates must be Indian citizens
- Candidates must be able to arrange temporary lodging within the Kolkata Municipal Corporation area, as required for emergency duties
- Submission of a bond on non-judicial stamp paper is mandatory for selected candidates
Reservation and Category Guidelines
- EWS candidates must provide a valid income and asset certificate
- SC/ST/OBC candidates must provide appropriate caste certificates from competent authorities
- Persons with disabilities must provide a disability certificate confirming at least 40% impairment
- Government employees must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) prior to the Personality Test
Selection Process
The recruitment process will be conducted in two stages:
- Written Test (200 marks)
- Objective type (Multiple Choice Questions)
- Duration: 1.5 hours
- Negative marking: 1 mark for each incorrect answer
- Syllabus: Based on Diploma level Mechanical Engineering curriculum approved by AICTE
- Personality Test (40 marks)
- Candidates three times the number of vacancies will be called for this stage based on written exam merit
- Minimum qualifying marks:
- General Candidates: 45%
- OBC & EWS Candidates: 40%
- SC/ST & PWD Candidates: 35%
- Final Merit List: Based on the combined marks of Written Test and Personality Test. In case of a tie, preference will be given to the candidate with an earlier date of birth or higher marks in the written examination.
