The Government of Assam, through its Directorate of Employment & Craftsmen Training, has announced a golden opportunity for candidates aspiring to build a career in technical education and training. The department has invited online applications from eligible Indian citizens for recruitment to multiple posts of Junior Instructors across various trades in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) of Assam. This recruitment drive aims to strengthen the vocational training ecosystem in the state by appointing qualified and skilled professionals.

  11. Junior Instructor (IT & ESM) – 2 posts
  12. Junior Instructor (Machinist) – 3 posts
  13. Junior Instructor (Mechanic Diesel) – 4 posts
  14. Junior Instructor (Mechanic Electronics) – 3 posts
  15. Junior Instructor (Mechanic Tractor) – 2 posts
  16. Junior Instructor (Mechanical Instrument) – 2 posts
  17. Junior Instructor (Plumber) – 2 posts
  18. Junior Instructor (Secretarial Practices) – 2 posts

Each post also carries reservation quotas for different categories including SC, ST, OBC/MOBC, Tea Tribes, Adivasi communities, women candidates, PwD (Persons with Disabilities), and ex-servicemen, as per the Government of Assam rules.

Salary Scale

The selected candidates will be placed in the following pay structure:

  • Pay Band: Rs. 14,000/- to Rs. 70,000/- (PB-2)
  • Grade Pay: Rs. 6,800/-
  • Additional Benefits: Other allowances as admissible under Assam Government rules (such as DA, HRA, medical facilities, leave benefits, and pension as per new pension rules).

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

For all posts of Junior Instructor, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

  1. Essential Qualification:
    • Passed HSLC (High School Leaving Certificate) or equivalent qualification from a recognized board/institution.
    • Possess National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) or National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the relevant trade.
  2. Desirable Qualification:
    • One year of industrial experience or teaching experience in the relevant trade.

Age Limit (as on 01.01.2025)

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 40 years (i.e., candidates born on or before 31.12.1984 and not later than 01.01.2007 are eligible).

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST (P)/ST (H): 5 years
  • OBC/MOBC: 3 years
  • Ex-servicemen: 2 years
  • PwD candidates: 10 years irrespective of caste

The age will be verified based on the HSLC Admit Card or Pass Certificate. No other document will be considered valid for age proof.

Application Fee

Good news for applicants—no application fee is required. Candidates can apply free of cost.

Selection Process

The recruitment process will be conducted in two phases:

Phase I – Written Test

  • Type: MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions)
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Total Marks: 100
  • No negative marking

Exam Sections:

  1. Subject Knowledge – 60 marks
  2. General English – 10 marks
  3. General Knowledge – 15 marks
  4. Basic Digital Literacy – 15 marks

Note: Subject knowledge will be based on the Craftsmen Training Scheme syllabus under the Directorate General of Training (DGT).

Phase II – Skill Test

  • Candidates shortlisted in the ratio of 1:4 (per vacancy) based on written test scores will be called.
  • The Skill Test will be specific to the trade/subject of the candidate.
  • Maximum Marks: 50

Final selection will be based on the combined marks of the Written Test and Skill Test.

  3. Trade Qualification Certificates (NAC/NTC) and mark sheet

  7. Declaration in Form “A” under Assam Public Services recruitment norms (Small Family Norms)
