Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, is inviting applications from promising, energetic, and bright candidates for its one-year apprenticeship program. This initiative aims to provide practical training and hands-on experience to individuals pursuing careers in electrical, civil, computer science, human resources, corporate social responsibility, and law fields. The program will be conducted in the Northern Region-III, covering parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
The apprenticeship program offers an excellent opportunity for fresh graduates and diploma holders to gain exposure in a leading government enterprise involved in power transmission, infrastructure management, and project execution.

Educational Qualification and Monthly Stipend
Candidates must possess the relevant full-time educational qualification as per the trade. The monthly stipend varies depending on the qualification and availability of company accommodation.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the POWERGRID apprenticeship program must meet the following criteria:
- Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must have completed a full-time regular course in their respective trade/discipline from a recognized institute or university.
- Part-time, correspondence, distance learning, or online qualifications are not eligible.
- Experience:
- Candidates with more than one year of work experience or who have already undergone apprenticeship training are not eligible.
- Recent Pass-outs:
- Only candidates who have completed their qualifying degree/diploma within two years from the application closing date (07.10.2023 – 06.10.2025) can apply.
- Category Reservation:
- Reservation will be applicable as per the Apprentices Act, 1961, and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992, including amendments.
Documents Required:
- Apprenticeship registration/enrollment number under NATS/NAPS.
- Scanned copies of educational certificates and mark sheets.
- Proof of age (Matriculation Certificate, Aadhaar Card, or Passport).
- Caste certificate for SC/ST/OBC(NCL) candidates, if applicable.
- Bank details with an active Aadhaar-seeded account for stipend transfer.
- Recent color passport-sized photograph and signature.
Important Notes:
- Candidates must apply for only one state/region and one trade. Multiple applications will be rejected.
- Providing false information or documents can lead to disqualification at any stage.
Application Process
The application process is conducted entirely online and involves two major steps:
- Registration on NATS/NAPS Portal:
- ITI candidates and certain executive roles (HR, CSR, Law) must register on the NAPS portal.
- Diploma and degree holders in engineering must register on the NATS portal.
- Candidates must complete their profile and upload all required documents.
- Application on POWERGRID Website:
- After obtaining the NATS/NAPS enrollment number, candidates can apply through the official POWERGRID website.
- No application fee is required.
- The selection process does not include written exams or interviews.
Shortlisting and Selection
- Applications will be screened based on merit, educational qualification, and adherence to eligibility criteria.
- Candidates will be shortlisted for document verification in a 1:5 ratio with respect to available training slots.
- Shortlisted candidates must submit a medical certificate and undergo police verification.
- The final merit list will be prepared based on the candidates’ qualifications and document verification.
- Selected candidates must accept the tri-partite apprenticeship contract on the NATS/NAPS portal.
Apprenticeship Training Details
Duration
- The apprenticeship program will be for one year from the date of joining.
- Apprentices are not allowed to enroll in any regular course or job during the training period.
Stipend
- Monthly stipend will be paid as per qualification, with additional HRA if accommodation is not provided.
- A Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) from the Government of India may also be provided under the NATS scheme.
Training Location
- Apprentices may be assigned to any training location within the state, based on availability and operational requirements.
- Job rotation or location changes may occur during the training period.
Leaves
- 12 days of casual leave and 15 days of medical leave (pro-rata) for the one-year period.
- Unauthorized absence may result in stipend deduction or termination from the program.
Performance Evaluation
- Apprentices will maintain a weekly work diary and be evaluated periodically by their reporting officer.
Conduct and Discipline
- Apprentices must maintain confidentiality, adhere to the company’s code of conduct, and follow policies strictly.
- Any violation, indiscipline, or poor performance may lead to termination.
Intellectual Property
- Any work, inventions, or discoveries made during the apprenticeship will be the property of POWERGRID.
Termination Rights
- POWERGRID reserves the right to terminate apprenticeship for absenteeism, misconduct, or failure to perform.
Liability Disclaimer
- POWERGRID will not be responsible for accidents, injuries, theft, or natural calamities during the training period.
