SAMEER, headquartered in Mumbai with centers in Chennai, Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, and Guwahati, is a premier institute engaged in advanced research and development in the fields of RF and microwave systems, radar instrumentation, atmospheric science, photonics, EMI/EMC studies, and allied areas. The Director General will serve as the Chief Executive, leading the organization, overseeing its scientific programs, and managing its administrative and financial responsibilities.

Eligibility Criteria
For Direct Recruitment
- Educational Qualification:
- Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in Electronics, Electricals, Electronics & Communication, Microwave Communication, or RF & Microwave with 22 years of post-qualification experience in RF/Microwave Communications, Millimeter Wave, Opto-Electronics, Photonics, Atmospheric Science, Radar Systems, EMI/EMC, EMP, or Antenna Design.
- OR Ph.D. in any of the above areas with 17 years of post-qualification experience.
- Essential Experience: At least 5 years in a senior management capacity.
- Desirable: Experience in research and development with publications in reputed journals.
For Absorption/Deputation (Including Short-Term Contract)
- Officers of Central Government, State Government, Public Sector Undertakings, or Autonomous Bodies are eligible if they:
- Hold an analogous post on a regular basis, or
- Have 3 years of regular service in Level-13A of the Pay Matrix (₹1,31,100 – ₹2,16,600).
- Must also possess the qualifications and experience prescribed for direct recruits.
Notes
- Deputation shall ordinarily not exceed five years.
- Maximum age limit for Deputation: 58 years.
- Maximum age limit for Absorption: 56 years.

Age Relaxation

Salary Scale
The post carries a pay scale of Level-14 in the Pay Matrix (₹1,44,200 – ₹2,18,200). This pay scale reflects the high responsibility and leadership associated with the post of Director General. Other allowances and benefits as per government rules will also be applicable.
Tenure
The tenure for the post of Director General will be a maximum of 5 years or until the candidate reaches the age of superannuation, whichever is earlier.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Director General will be the Chief Executive of SAMEER and will carry the following responsibilities:
- Responsible for overall management and functioning of SAMEER under the guidance of the Governing Council.
- Required to lead a team of qualified technocrats and management professionals.
- Preparation of annual plans, budgets, and long-term strategies.
- Exercise of executive and financial powers as provided in the Bye-laws or delegated by the Governing Council.
- Act as Member Secretary of the Governing Council.
