In the heart of Odisha, thousands of women once struggled to support their families with limited opportunities and minimal financial support. Subhadra Yojana, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 17 September 2024, has emerged as a ray of hope for these women. The scheme is a landmark step in women’s empowerment, offering ₹50,000 financial assistance over five years to eligible women through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
For many, like Saraswati from Puri, this scheme has changed lives. With her first installment of ₹5,000, she opened a grocery shop, which now funds her daughter’s education. Similarly, Anita from Khordha bought a sewing machine with her installment, building a path to independence. These stories highlight the scheme’s true aim — economic empowerment, dignity, and equality for women.
Subhadra Yojana is not just about providing money; it is about giving women the freedom to choose, the confidence to act, and the tools to build their future.
